It has been serialized in a shonen manga (comic targeted towards boys) magazine, the “Weekly Shonen Jump” for the first part, and “Shone Jump +” for the second, since 2019. In 2022, it was adapted into an anime. The story is about Denji, who gains power from the “devil of a chainsaw” and his battles. The main character Denji, differs from the typical “hero” portrayal, and appears as a “dark hero” who goes through very violent and extreme performances, with unpredictable developments. The series has many fans overseas as a Japanese violence manga. As of August 2023, the cumulative circulation of the comics has exceeded 26 million copies. It has also won the Harvey Awards for Best Manga in 2021 and 2022. In 2020, it won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the boys category.
