Meaghan Oppenheimer, creator of Hulu‘s “Tell Me Lies,” has set up a new series at the streamer: “Second Wife,” which will star Emma Roberts and Tom Ellis. The project will be Roberts and Oppenheimer’s second collaboration, as Roberts also executive produces “Tell Me Lies,” though this marks the first project together for Oppenheimer and Ellis, who are married.

The dark comedy series will follow Sasha (Roberts), who is fresh from a terrible breakup and flees New York to start over in London, where she meets and quickly falls in love with a recently divorced father named Jacob (Ellis). When they impulsively decide to get married, they learn that there’s a lot they don’t know about each other – and they can’t outrun their pasts forever.

Based on Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel of the same name, “Tell Me Lies” premiered on Hulu in September 2022 and was renewed for a second season in November. Oppenheimer has also written for AMC’s “The Walking Dead” spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead” as well as the Facebook Watch series “Queen America.” She is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and Yorn Levine Barnes.
