Mission Statement:
The aim of Virginia Commonwealth Chess Kids is not just to develop future chess champions; but, most importantly, better learners in schools!
About us:
Virginia Commonwealth Chess Kids, LLC is a dedicated chess school at Centreville, VA that offers weekend chess classes, after-school programs to both private and public schools in NOVA, Summer Camps, and home-based chess tutorial located in Stone Ridge Community in Loudoun County. The founder, Joseph Calapati is an experience chess player who has won numerous tournaments in California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C, and Virginia. Aside from being an active chess coach and player, he is also a licensed public school teacher in Virginia and currently teaching in Leesburg, VA.
Our program starts students on the path of learning chess in a highly-structured, challenging, but fun and comfortable learning environment. We utilize a well-organized curriculum that takes kids from zero knowledge all the way to the most advance level (Class A rating).
Our curriculum was created to address the needs of young chess learners who have the potential to become future chess champions.
It is noticeable that most chess schools or after-school chess programs in the area are combining all students in one class thereby disregarding individual playing strength. We believe, this is harmful to the development of every student. This scenario inspired the founder to develop after-school classes using highly-regarded materials intended to provide a solid foundation that all young chess learners can use at their current level, while at the same time preparing them for the next step in their chess journey.
Students will be exposed to different modules according to their levels. This methodology is commonly utilized in countries that are considered the very best in the world.
