The museum is a short 3-5 minute drive from the Visitor’s Center or you can take the 20-30 minute walk along the Old Champlain Canal trail from the top of Lock 2. Head south to reach us at the top of the hill overlooking the old Champlain Canal Lock 4.

The Visitor’s Center is a good start to your introduction to Waterford, with information on where to stay, places to shop, boat rides, places to eat and other fun ideas of what to do in Waterford, NY

They may have the information you need regarding the Canal schedule too, but you should also contact NYS Canal Corporation (Tourism: 518-449-6014; Waterford Division: 518-233-8575)

We’re happy to help plan your trip – with the highlight of your trip naturally being the museum of course – but we don’t have the same resources as the Waterford Harbor Visitor’s Center.

 Contact them at (518) 233- 9123
They’re friendly people, happy to help welcome you to Waterford!

The museum has been able to work with the Port of Waterford for events and programs such as our Canalways educational program and for other talks/lectures.
