Contemporary Ceramic Bowl by Stacey H. Hammond
About the Item
Contemporary Ceramic Bowl by Stacey H. Hammond. Blue and turquoise bowl in color, with undulating edges similar to petals or up-side-down jellyfish. The bowl has an oval shape, with a height of 3.50" at the lowest point and 3.75 at the highest, inclusive of feet.
Artist and teacher Stacey Hammond enjoys creating with her hands and we are pleased to present her unique designs. "Working in clay is imperfect. It’s a vulnerable medium, and invites one to take risks that do not always satisfy. But the wonder of the result is both exasperating and thrilling. This edge is what I find interesting—the constant folds in my pieces allow me to hide and understand the secrets beneath.
My recent work explores the relationship between two elements of nature: earth and sea. The collection celebrates color and is inspired by my love of the ocean. The raw, organic edges, pooled with the hues of blues, link these two environments. Like my process, the ocean can be peaceful and soothing or powerful and rebellious. I lose myself in the act of making and I am always surprised by the outcome." Stacey Hammond.
