Our Story

The La Sirenita food truck was originally owned and run by Mr. Marco Sirena. The birria( marinated beef slow cooked in more than 20 ingredients) is a family recipe that has been passed down for generations and is now a local staple. In 2020, he decided to quit his full-time job of 18 years to pursue this food truck.

What once seemed like a scary and daunting endeavor became a dream come true! In the early days, you could see it parked on the corner of 300 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM. Dedication and hard work soon paid off as the interest in the food truck became prevalent, turning the once solitarily parked food truck into an occasion at local breweries. Marco reached out to breweries such as Boxing Bear Brewing Co. and Differential Brewing Co. and got their permission to park outside and sell his food! The positive feedback and growing interest in the truck meant an expansion was on the way and what could only be described as fate, occurred. Marco met Renee Rodriguez, a Produce Manager and specialist of 25 years that has been selling produce, meat, and restaurant supplies to local and big businesses alike in the Southwest. Her extensive food service knowledge and ambition led the two to partner up! The two opened another food truck and to no surprise, they were doing even better than ever! The two looked onward towards the future as they discussed opening another food truck with different food or even the possibility of a brick-and-mortar restaurant! What seemed like an improbable door at the moment, seemingly opened when the two were at Differential Brewing Co. talking about an expansion with Tino Nellos, the owner of Differential Brewing Co. Tino mentioned that Connie Nellos the owner of Quarters Discount Liquors was looking for a local business to take over the restaurant and bar space of what was once The Quarters BBQ. Tino put them in contact with Connie and the rest is history. Connie’s kindness to let them use the Quarter’s recipes for the BBQ led to what is now the La Sirenita brick-and-mortar! Although authentic Mexican food and Barbecue don’t seem to be a likely pairing but the two foods are perfectly at home here!
