Our Ideal Customer

Anyone who is interested in selling, buying or investing in Real Estate. Somebody who needs reliable and professional tradespeople they can count on. Because I am very active in the market I come across really good people that I would recommend.

About Us

In a world where ‘responsiveness’ is literally a mouse click away, that term unfortunately happens to be at the center of the #1 customer complaint about the real estate industry. “My Realtor won’t call me back”. “I don’t have an update”. “I can’t get a straight answer.” Doug Rains has taken this to heart and has set out to single handedly turn that negative perception on its head!

Doug began his professional career in another ‘responsive’ industry—at a telephone company. In 1983, he was a management team member in the Complaints Department for customer service, sales and executive levels of the company. He handled every complaint that came to the Senior Director, President and CEO of the company. His entire day was spent making people happy, respecting their time, and answering their questions in a timely manner.

When he became a real estate agent, it was these talents and skills that earned him the title of ‘The Responsive Realtor’. His philosophy is very simple. He firmly believes that he must treat others the way he would want to be treated. And that means not only exceeding their expectations by being responsive to their questions and concerns as quickly as possible, but very often responding before they even have to ask. And with today’s technology, Doug believes there is absolutely no reason an agent should not be able to stay in contact with their clients on a regular basis with important information and updates.

His goal is to be THE MOST Responsive Realtor his clients have ever met. And you can already see his level of success by the common thread throughout the numerous testimonials his past clients have given.

When Doug isn’t responding to his clients, he loves to spend time with his family. He and his wife Janet married in 1989 and have one son Nathaniel. They lived in the Midwest (Illinois) until 1998, when they moved to their current home in Lakeside. They enjoy golfing, biking and going to the movies or relaxing by the pool with a good BBQ.

Here are common themes of testimonials:

“Doug has been a pleasure to work with. He is very knowledgeable about real estate and incredibly honest and trustworthy. Not only has he made selling our house a breeze, but a learning experience as well. It is so comforting to know he is only a phone call away and will go over and beyond for any of our needs. My husband and I couldn’t be more happy with the great service Doug has provided.”

“From start to finish on the sale of our house, we found Doug to be extremely knowledgeable and efficient. His communication skills were excellent (always called before coming and was always on time and he answered every phone call, email and text promptly). He made sure we got everything we wanted – price, closing date, sign, flyers, etc., etc. He was always friendly and in good humor and guided us through the entire process effortlessly, putting us at ease through stressful times. We would highly recommend Doug who was, by far, the best realtor we’ve ever had!”

“I would strongly recommend Doug Rains as your real estate agent. Upon our initial engagement Doug worked with me on a sales plan, a time line for contractor repairs, and helped develop my expectations for what the comparable local market competition would be. Here is the big value-add Doug provided: he delivered on everything that we set out to accomplish. Doug was extremely helpful in providing me with his list of contractors that provided me with timely and competitive bids for work that needed to be done before the sale. We met our sales price goal in a very timely fashion and that was greatly appreciated. Doug’s professionalism, integrity and honesty were all significant benefits that added to my experience of having him represent me in our sales transaction.”

Yes.  The contract itself is written As Is.  You have time frames for you to do your inspections.  Based on those inspections, you can ask for repairs to be made.  They do not have to do them, but you still can ask and negotiate.   (more) Yes.  The contract itself is written As Is.  You have time frames for you to do your inspections.  Based on those inspections, you can ask for repairs to be made.  They do not have to do them, but you still can ask and negotiate.

It is negotiable.  If an agent can show you they sell homes faster and for more money than others (list price to sales price percentage and days on the market) do not let the commission make your decision.  (more) It is negotiable.  If an agent can show you they sell homes faster and for more money than others (list price to sales price percentage and days on the market) do not let the commission make your decision.
