So many answers to this Jeff. Not sure if you really want to know or if this is just a way for businesses to showcase their strategies in this area.
My company encounters this often as there are a number of non-legitimate dummy locksmith companies. Customers who know what they need and the integrity and quality of a Certified Journeyman know which companies to call and what sort of quotes are reasonable. When it comes to security, people know that quality cant be compromised. These are the customers you develop long term relationships with. No harm in letting those who want something for nothing get what they pay for, though not ideal: it is always good to see people cared for, regardless of their philosophy of commerce. Just two cents from a Locksmith regarding the matter.

My interest in Locksmithing began while living in a dead end Alberta town. I had been trying my hand at other trades, gaining business experience and developing natural mechanical skills. I decided to take a course with ICS in Locksmithing and finished it easily. After investigation, I found that the Solicitors General mandated a valid security license and journeyman status in the province of Alberta. So I got a job right away in the Edmonton area and began my apprenticeship. After completing the education requirements and getting a good foundation in a variety of Locksmith trade skills, I decided to incorporate my own business to meet the needs of my local area. No other Locksmith is able to cover the Wetaskiwin and Leduc County as thoroughly and I am happy to be meeting local needs.
