The construction master pro includes a number of built-in time-saving functions, including calculations for risers, treads, stringer length, and incline angle; how many 4 by 8, 4 by 9 or 4 by 12 sheets are needed to cover an area; jack rafter results for regular and irregular pitch roof; determining number of on-center studs for an entered length; and right angles. It also offers advanced solutions for circles, arches, columns, cones, pillars, windows and post-holes arcs, circumference, and segments.

Handheld Convenience

The construction master pro also includes the ability to custom define your preferences (such as fractional settings), a "paperless" tape that lets you review the previous 20 entries to double-check your totals, and accumulating memory with three additional memory storage locations. It's powered by a two 1.5-volt batteries (LR-44/A76), and the Construction Master Pro has an auto shut-off feature that turns the calculator off after about 8 to 12 minutes of non-use. The 11-digit display measures 2.5 inches by .625 inches. Overall, the calculator measures 5.6 inches by 3 inches by .6 inches, and weighs 4.5 ounces. It's backed by a one-year limited warranty.

In the excavation business conversions between many different units of measure are constant (cubic yards to tons, decimal feet to inches, etc.). Anytime calculations are involved (especially with fractions and conversions) errors can easily happen. The Construction Master Pro has made my life immensely easier and far more accurate. It saves me lots of time and therefore lots of money. It's worth every penny. There's a short learning curve, but then it becomes very intuitive and very easy to use. I bought a Construction Master III in 1993 when I built my first house. At the time, I was a general contractor. It's been decades since I have done construction professionally. But I have used the calculator periodically through the years for various personal construction projects.

I bought the 4065 Construction Master Pro thinking there must be some substantial improvements over the last 30 years. It does have a few new features, but most of those are accessed using a combination of keystrokes which are difficult to remember.

The markings for the alternate functions of the keys are very tiny and difficult to read. The manual, which is often needed to determine the keystrokes needed for a particular function, is difficult to get to. You have to pry the calculator out of its armor case to get the the manual tucked into the back.

On my original calculator, the manual is tucked into a flap on the case, and is readily available for reference. So, I returned the 4065, and will continue to use my 30 year old calculator.

In general though, these calculators are very useful.

These are 1.79 Amp hour batteries. They do not hold a charge very long and do not deliver the power needed to run 20v tools for very long. I am a carpenter and before lunch with the occasional cut and rip of flooring both batteries were dead. I then switched to a 5 Amp hor batteries for the rest of the day and had no issues at all. Do not buy these batteries if you plan on using them all day. On top of the lack luster performance you are unable to return them to Amazon. Very dissatisfied would not reccomend.
