I've had this for about a month now and wanted to wait so I could give it a good review. I use this 4-5 days a week and it works well!I've always had a gym membership so foregoing that for an at home gym was a little daunting but I'm not disappointed! Since I frequented the gym I knew how to utilize this more than the workout pictures it provided and I feel like I get a good workout with this. It has a leg press but it doesn't go up to much weight (150) so leg day is a little challenging because I leg press over 300lb but overall I'm satisfied with the purchase!I'd say it took a total of 4 hours to put together with my husband. When the boxes came I labeled all the parts to the pictures so the directions were easy to follow and then we put it together (my four hours includes the 45min -1 hr it took to label everything and break down the boxes). We used power tools to tighten the bolts instead of the cheap-o tools given in the packaging so that probably sped up our time but still... didn't take too long!

We were pleasantly surprised with this order. Delivery was super quick. We did check out reviews and photos which were helpful. IT IS AT LEAST a TWO person task. It took us a total of approx 4 hrs to assemble but we did prep work before starting. The supplier had a packing list with each box of its contents which was perfect.( 4 boxes of materials/parts). the big parts were not labeled or numbered but the packing and parts list did describe & number each item to match the assembly instructions. We decided based on a previous review that we would put the number on each item as we checked them off the packing lists. THIS WAS SUPER HELPFUL. We had all the items laid out & labeled before starting. The unpacking,verifing and labeling took about an hour.(again TWO PEOPLE) This step made assembly much quicker and smoother. We followed the instructions, pictures and diagrams, step by step. Working together, Each instruction page took only about 10-15 minutes to assemble but when you get to the pulley take your time, double check the locations & direction of flow before moving on. Everything went fairly fast and finish product is GREAT !! So worth the cost. The only thing that seemed difficult was that some of the first bolting was from the bottom side which was a little difficult since it makes it very awkward to manuever, even for two. I ordered this unit on 17 August, 2022. Kit arrived several days later in multiple boxes. I assembled this by myself over two days, taking my time.

I’ve waited until now to write a review because I wanted to be sure I knew how to use this machine.

Assembly

Kit arrived in five boxes, each well marked as “Box X of Y.” The assembly instructions were in Box 5. I wish they’d marked which box had the instructions, as I opened each box sequentially until I found them.

Assembly instructions were pretty well laid out. Sequence was good. Isometric drawings were clear. Fasteners were numbered in the drawings, with corresponding numbering on the cardboard sheets that held the fasteners.

Issues with assembly – The weight plates are one of the first items assembled. The plates themselves have protrusions/dimples that allow the weights to stack and helps keep them in line when stacked. The assembly instructions do not stipulate whether the plates are to be stacked protrusion side up or down. I picked one, and it works, but I wonder if it wouldn’t work better if I’d flipped the plates. Unfortunately, I’d have to disassemble most of the machine to get to the plates.

Short

Dimensions are slightly short in terms of length. I’m 5’10”, and I often find myself running out of cable during an exercise. The weight stack assembly could be a foot or more taller, allowing longer cable.

Narrow

The overhead cable must be pointed almost directly down during an exercise. That is, the cable cannot be pointed to either side to any degree. Otherwise, the cable rubs against the pulley, creating drag. Likewise, when I started doing Overhead Tricep Extensions, I found the cable would drag against the upper arm of the machine, so standing away, in line with the main axis of the machine, also facilitates drag.

The floor cable must be pointed at a significant angle away from the floor and in line with the pulley during an exercise, which works great for squats, deadlifts, curls, etc.. While doing seated rows, I find the leg extension arm gets trapped by the cable’s movement and lifts. To avoid this, I tend to involve my traps much more, pulling the cable at more of an angle away from the floor. Opening the angle of the cable guard would have fixed this. Unfortunately, this guard is heavy metal, welded, instead of bolted so it can be adjusted.

Imbalanced

When doing shrugs, squats, deadlifts while keeping my feet on the Foot Plate, everything is fine. However, when performing Bent Over Cable Pullthroughs (pulling the cable between my legs, facing away from the machine to work the glutes), the end of the machine lifts and the entire machine scoots along the floor. Longer Foot Plates would possibly solve this, but maybe a better solution would be to add more mass at the light end of the machine itself.

Conclusion

The kit comes with two chains, each of different length. The chains and the attachments (bars, etc.) are coupled to the machine using carabiner-like chain links that close with a captured nut. Turning the nut to change attachments takes a few seconds and becomes aggravating during my workout. Better would be a simple spring-loaded clip.

I realize this isn’t a specialized piece of gym equipment, designed for a small group of exercises. Perhaps I’m expecting it to do more than it was designed to do. There’s a learning curve involved around this machine, and the user must adapt and compromise to get the full benefit of what this machine can provide.

Overall, I’m satisfied with this machine, the price I paid, the prompt delivery, and the quality of build. For a home gym setup, this is probably about as good as it gets, at least in my experience.
