Good features, but also has its fails (strap side adjustments broke on both sides on 1st week)!
Helmet is comfortable, Bluetooth works well (some noticeable lag for communicating), really good for music (not much bass, but acceptable).However... both side strap adjustments BROKE on the 1st week. What's worse, is that the 1st helmet I ordered came with this plastic part already broken (so I returned it) and then this 2nd helmet broke on the VERY FIRST WEEK, not even the whole week. How can this be? It is certainly NOT a cheap helmet, quality should be a lot better and certainly not try to save a few pennies on a $150 dollar helmet due to cheap, weak plastic adjusters. For the money spent, I hope if something else is going to break, that it breaks before the return period. Not happy at all about this. - Also, less lag in the communication would be nice. It is really awkward that if you are too close to your peers, you can hear them talk and then half a second later you hear them through your helmet, it is quite distracting and annoying.

I never thought I would spend so much on several helmets but after using 2 of them with my significant other and I, we bought more for the kids. The range is phenomenal if you separate out of sight. You can hear it clearly and don’t have to shout for the mic to pick up your voice. Can speak normally. You only pick up heavy cross wind. So if you’re traveling fast and turn your head sideways, or a strong sidewind. Which may sound bad but it’s not, testament to blocking out the wind noise so well for 99% of the ride. Battery life is great. We’ve gone out for several hours without ever turning them off. Which is surprising given how incredibly light and comfortable they are

We bought two of these helmets, and they are reasonably comfortable (as helmets go) and have a good intercom. I would have rated them at 5, but for two issues.

1) TL/DR their size guide is a bit on the small side. We used their measuring guide and came in at 23”. Based on their guide this is a medium. We could hardly get them on our heads and they were headache inducing. Therefore we had to go through the exchange process for a large. And even then we are opening up the adjuster about halfway.

2) TL/DR download the full user manual before you decide to load their mobile app. All of the information from the package talks about loading the app and using it to control and pair the helmets. All we wanted to do is pair the helmets. After loading the app and using it to look at the full manual we found that no app is needed to pair them. To us the app is useless. You can run your phone sound through the helmet, but music quality is very low. I would use earbuds before putting music thought the helmet, and my watch tells me when I have a notification. Perhaps if you want to talk on the phone while riding…

Extra note: The only way to update the helmet firmware is to use a PC. If you only have a mobile or tablet then you may be out of luck for firmware updates.

Bought 2 of these for wife and I - immediately allowed us to enjoy biking more than before, staying in contact during the rides and notifying each other of passing cars, clear roads, or bumps have made us both very happy. Also able to play music when riding alone. Helmet allows plenty of air flow, avoiding heat or sweat issues when on longer rides as well

I read the reviews and was a little uncertain whether to buy one of these helmets. I did a bit of research and this helmet kept coming up in the top 5 smart helmets. It arrived quickly and the set up was really easy. You don't need to use the Sena R2 app to connect to your phone. It connected via bluetooth very easily. I've mainly been listening to Radio 4, podcasts and audio books. I had read reviews which said people couldn't hear the speakers over the sound of the traffic or the wind. I live in central London and I've been cycling along really busy roads during rush hour and I can hear what's going out of the speakers perfectly clearly. I did receive a phone-call from my husband and couldn't hear him very well, but then I realised the phone volume for calls had been turned down.
There is a light on the back of the helmet which either shows solid red or flashing red. It works very simply by pushing the very obvious button. Below that button is the charge point. It glows red when it's charging and blue when it's fully charged (I read someone else's review that said there wasn't a light to indicate it was charging so perhaps they've made an improvement to the helmet since then).
Overall, this has been a great purchase. So much so, I've bought my husband one too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sena R2/M1 (erst ohne EVO) - jetzt umgerüstet auf M1 mit EVO!
Reviewed in Germany on May 21, 2023
Size: LargeStyle: R2 Bluetooth IntercomColor: Matte BlackVerified Purchase

(EDIT: Mit EVO - Stand 26.8.23:

A-C
C-B
A-B
Damit funktioniert das Verbinden, wie folgt:
A-B: Einfachklick an beiden Helmen
A-C: Zweifachklick an beiden Helmen (!)
C-B: Einfachklick an C

A-B-C:
Einfachklick und Zweifachklick an A
Einfachklick an B, Zweifachklick an C
Einfachklick an B, Einfachklick an C
