Our Practice

The Storm & Anchor
A word from the owner

kindpng_497535_edited_edited.png
kindpng_497535_edited.png

We all know the storm of life. We all know pain. Alongside love, pain is a universal language every person can relate to. I believe that in order to live our best, most fulfilled lives, we must learn to deal with inevitable pain. Through mental health therapy, you can learn to manage various types of pain and suffering. I see mental health as a boat on an ocean. There are times when the sun is shining, wind in your sails. These are the times of peace!  Yet, so many of us, are lost at sea, or stuck in a storm with no way out.

Therapy can be the anchor in the storm, to help keep you still and grounded in the midst of chaos and pain. Therapy can help us to see things differently, to develop our skills, to clear out the weight of the past, and become our best, most desirable selves. It is our desire to help our patients to achieve their goals, reduce their suffering and live their best lives. Therapy can provide hope.

Here at Anchored Soul, our approach to treatment is warm, relaxed, and person-centered. We strive to treat my patients with compassion and acceptance. We value each person as an expert in their own life. Each person and their story is different and requires specific, rounded care. Therefore we take extra caution to ensure that all my employees share in these values and approach therapy this way while offering them autonomy to operate with their clinical and intrinsic talents.

At Anchored Soul, we are honored to treat and welcome all people regardless of Gender, Faith, Ethnicity, and Orientation.

-With Compassion,

Shane Mahon

Services We Offer

Please take a moment and explore what we have to offer.

Individual Therapy

Adults & Parents

At Anchored Soul we love to work one on one with patients in a safe and welcoming environment. It is our commitment to allow you to be whom you are while working towards your most authentic self. Our goal is to help individuals to learn to express themselves in safe and effective ways. We also seek to help our patients take ownership of their lives and empower them to face their struggles.

We also work with parents who struggle to be the parent they want to be. Here, we get it, parenting is one of the most difficult and humbling jobs out there! We work to help parents to break free of old patterns of behavior and thinking and help them to walk in the freedom of knowing they are enough!

Adolescents/ Teens & Families

A passion and understanding

Arguably the most difficult time of anyone's life, the teenage years. At Anchored Soul, we have a deep passion for working with teens. We work to treat teens with respect while providing an environment of exploration, autonomy, and expectation. At Anchored Soul we make it a point that our teenage clients feel heard and are allowed to express themselves freely and openly in an authentic and engaging manner. We particularly enjoy working with teens who resist therapy and don't find it useful. Our goal is to help young people discover and pursue their best selves!

At Anchored Soul we find it especially important to focus on the connection between teens and their caregivers, as connections and relationships can become strained during these years. We strive to include parents in their children's treatment, with collaboration with the teenage patient to honor and ensure their privacy and our therapeutic trust.

Trauma Therapy

Skilled and Compassionate Healing

The word trauma is often used lightly in everyday speech, yet Trauma is a deeply impactful physiological and psychological wound that often requires highly specialized treatment.

Trauma is a stored memory where the individual interprets an event, sensation, or experience as extremely dangerous or unsafe. Trauma can manifest from a single event, or over the course of a lifetime after chronic abuse and neglect. Traumatic memories are often associated with negative self-beliefs, low self-esteem, and general feelings of worthlessness. Trauma often is the root of psychological, emotional, or relational distress.

Trauma is not something we can, "Just get over" or "forget about". It is a deeply rooted pain our body and mind work tirelessly to heal. At Anchored Soul all of our clinicians are trained in specific, evidenced-based trauma therapies that work and help patients to heal both newer Trauma wounds and those that they have lived with for seemingly a lifetime. We understand the nature of Trauma and what is required to heal it. Our staff will provide a safe and effective environment to begin your healing journey. We can offer hope into your suffering.
