DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Texas Home Improvement. Truly disappointed with this company’s lack of communication. Save yourself time and energy by not engaging in business with Texas Home Improvement. My husband saw a promotional ad for Texas Home improvement on Facebook looking for business in our area ( south austin/Buda) doing covered patio extensions so we called them right away. They sent over a sales rep which he did a great job at measuring out everything we wanted for our new covered patio, we walked through every detail from how many fans to can lights to the color of the patio cover etc. Once we got all the details squared away he called his boss -(which we were told was the owner of the company ) and negotiated a price with him-at first NOT giving us the promotion advertised then in the end agreed to giving us the promotional sale we had seen on social media. We all agreed so we signed and down payment was given. We then were able to get the loan for the amount agreed upon with the company and ready to start the process. This was May 22nd. A couple days later we had another ( also very nice man to work with) who walked us through again all the specs and details of our new covered patio, measuring everything and making sure all the details were correct for production. He then put the order in for everything we needed and told us they would start building in July. Over a month goes by and we don’t hear anything from the company but we knew they weren’t starting until the July. Then July 2nd we get a call from the company and they sent over another rep which we thought was coming to start the build… he instead tells us the company made a big mistake and misquoted us by 10,000.00 but because it was there mistake they were “only charge us 2,500.00 more.” And wouldn’t be able to build if we didn’t pay the extra fee because of there mistake. It was infuriating. The total cost of Production was thoroughly discussed with multiple reps/owner included when we signed and agreed to work with the company back in May. To then suddenly realizing over a month later when production was supposed to start, we now have to pay more. We don’t agree with this when he tells us, so he said he would talk with his boss again. And then we don’t hear anything. So we call the company weeks later and they said they didn’t call back because they thought we had canceled. Yet they still had and currently have our deposit. That SAME day we get a call from the company saying all our parts were in and they were ready to start the build🤦♀️We tell him what’s going on and he had no idea. Clearly this company does NOT communicate. If they can’t even get the sales part down we can’t even imagine with the quality of work would have been. The company then sends over a rep to our house and he said he would talk to his boss one more time. If the company was willing to do the build at the agreed price we would move forward. But they chose to loose our business over a 2500.00 mistake on their part. Shame on them for their lack of communication and follow through. The sales people we worked with were very nice guys, but unfortunately the company itself is one to stay away from.

Texas Home Improvement was great! Marcus came and explained everything thoroughly and if I had any other questions he was always able to answer them. He was quick with his reply and always updated me with the work progress via text or call or in person and always abiding by the COVID-19 regulations. I would reccommend this company because they are diligent and fast. I had my bulk head walls, skylight and my flat roof all redone in about 4 days! Thank you so much Marcus!

They did a great job. The 95 year old house looks like new again. I had them rebuild the front porch roof of my bungalow. I was not happy with the workmanship on them. They came out, tore them down and rebuilt. It is just beautiful. Very happy with their service

Texas Home Improvement has been great to work with. Their production manager handled my whole project wonderfully. If you want a company to come in and do high-quality work and not have to worry about managing the crews yourself THI is the company to go to. My home has felt cooler with the new spray cool wall paint on it. In this TX heat we NEED everything to help cool our home down.

As a former employee of this company I was made to sign a non-disclosure waiver, so I can’t give you all the dirty details. But what I can tell you is that this company is severely lacking in moral oversight and is abundant with interdepartmental scandals and a long history of lawsuits. Make no mistake this company cares only about profits, aka “success everyday!” Once when complaining to the GM about too much drama in my department, I asked why we never hire female employees for my department, he replied “we have in the past but it’s pretty much one big distraction and a lawsuit waiting to happen... it’s just not productive”. When I transferred to the DFW office to oversee training for the sales department, I was happily surprised that they had actually hired a female in that department! We’ll call her marry.... After a week I gave my assessment to the owner about which reps had the most potential and should get the most attention and the owner himself told me: “don’t get attached to marry, she’s on her way out” When I asked why, he said “listen, she’s African American, she has a victim mentality.....” He also called some of us “*******” over our group chat for choosing to stay home and not conduct in-home sales when the corona virus first start to cause shut downs in Austin. And as if it weren’t enough to be racist and sexist, this company also has extremely questionable tax practices that has left me in a very compromised position! I was paid as a 1099 contractor but still required to go through most if not all of the same motions of an employee. Like being required to be at the office every morning for an hour long meeting that we didn’t get paid for, or having to conduct our appointments according to they’re specific direction, etc. So they have essentially misclassified dozens of employees as “contractors” and effectively skipped out on hundreds of thousands in taxes, putting the burden on unsuspecting youngsters like me!

Beware of smoke. Sat down and fed a load of nonsense about some magic paint that will last forever and make me invisible to Russian radar. Walked around for 15 minutes and gave me a quote that made me want to move to Russia. 50% higher than anyone else with the discount available only if I sign up today. Avoid.

Young guy came out, didn't provide a business card or quote. He told me they do not give quotes...He came off as a car salesman/book salesman carrying his two large briefcases, insisting on coming into our home. He only wanted to tell me how great their company was and how great their life time paint product was. I let him know we had a few other five star companies come out and received their quotes as well. He used the word cheap, I corrected him, and at no time did I mention the word cheap. I should of asked him to leave at that time, but I insisted he walk the exterior of our home requesting quotes on material costs, labor costs and any costs for wood replacement, let alone measurements. I mean that was why I scheduled the appointment...He seemed a bit put off by my request. He stepped outside for a bit, then quickly retuned adding, "They we're not the guys for the job". I was a bit confused, why set up an appointment for a quote on exterior home painting, send someone who was too inexperienced to even do that. It was sprinkling at the time, maybe he didn't want to get wet, or maybe just to inexperienced. Very unprofessional and definitely a waist of our time.

Texas Home Improvement, which is actually based in California, hired me and another well qualified man without telling us pertinent details of the job. Ralph, the GM, is a liar and crook. He lied about the fact there is unpaid training, supplies we are expected to buy that the company should provide, and other details. If they treat their employees like this I can only imagine how they treat their customers. Avoid Texas Home Improvement at all costs!

Despite some rough spots, in retrospect this relationship went fairly well. The painting work seems excellent and the door seems to have been installed properly and properly painted. Difficulties involving the gutters have been resolved by mutual agreement. Indeed, THI was impressive in their ultimate attention to the quality of the work they had done for me and in their concern for my satisfaction with that work. THI sales representative "Pete" rang my doorbell on the evening of October 20. We agreed that he would come back the next day (October 21) to estimate the cost of repainting my house. Overnight, I checked out THI on both the Angie's List and Better Business Bureau websites. They checked out as reputable. The next day, October 21, Pete came by as agreed. I agreed to have my house painted by THI. We agreed on paint colors (a base color and one trim color). We also agreed that, because I needed a new front door, the existing front door would not be painted and that the back door, to my garage, would be painted. Pete gave me an initial cost estimate. Somewhat as an afterthought, we agreed that THI would also install gutters, and the initial cost estimate was amended to cover that additional cost. Pete took preliminary measurements and I gave Pete a check for about one-half of the estimated cost, or $5650. (For unimportant reasons, that check was replaced on October 27 by another check in the same amount. We agreed that another THI representative would come by the next day to re-measure. Later that afternoon, I telephoned THI and expressed concern about how the gutters we had agreed to install would be installed over the pergola/deck the rear of my house. On October 22, at the agreed time, THI's representative, "JR," came to my home. Pete was with him, and we discussed what I saw as problems with installing gutters on the roof where the pergola abutted my house. Pete said he had not properly anticipated the problems the pergola presented for installing gutters, but described an installation that involved a diverter across the entire width of the pergola with (I understood) downspouts at either end of the house. JR expressed some uncertainty about that configuration, expressing some question about the advisability of a diverter across the whole width of the pergola. He was not specific about how the gutters were to actually be installed, however, but said he was sure I'd like it and, if not, they could be removed. During the next few days, I decided that I would purchase a new front door through AHI, and on October 26, Pete came by again and we agreed on a new door. Pete told me the door would come pre-painted in the trim color I had selected. I paid Pete another $1700, half the estimated cost of the installed and painted new door. On November 10, I agreed with THI to add a second trim color to the painting of my house, at an extra cost of $315.00. That amount was added to the amount due upon completion of the work. Painting work began on my home sometime during the week of November 8-14. The base color, when applied, was significantly different from the color I had selected and the first trim color seemed slightly different, as well. I called that to the attention of THI, and they sent JR over to confirm my acceptance of the colors. He agreed the base color was significantly different from that I had selected and offered to repaint the house. I decided to accept the colors. Bad weather and the delayed delivery of the second trim color prevented quick completion of the painting and I had to be away from my home on business. I was informed that the second trim color ordered would arrive on or about November 18. so I authorized THI to complete the painting during my absence. I do not remember authorizing the gutters to be installed in my absence. When I returned to my home on November 19, the painting of the second trim color had been substantially completed. To my surprise, the gutters had also been installed. (They were not pre-painted, as I expected, but had to be painted after installation.) One of three downspouts in the rear of my house poured water directly onto the wood deck of my pergola. The other was located just to the side of the back door leading to my garage, in a location where my door would be highly likely to slam into it should it swing open for any reason. I found that configuration problematic. On November 20, I paid the balance of $5965 for the painting and gutters but expressed concern to THI about the design of the gutters. The next day, Pete and JR came by and we discussed the gutter placement. Both Pete and JR agreed that having one downspout pour water onto the wood deck of my pergola was not a reasonable solution. Once again, Pete seemed to think that there could be a gutter placement that would avoid that issue and my other problems, again with a longer diverter. JR's solution was to add an extension to the downspout that would take water just beyond the deck. I didn't like that solution much. Pete and JR were offering two different solutions; I clearly preferred Pete's. We agreed to give the matter more time. JR agreed that, if I didn't like the gutters, they could be removed. JR had to leave. Pete stayed and we talked about his suggestion that I re-paint the brick siding on the front of my house. That was something I thought was needed, so I agreed to have that done at a total cost of about $1825, making an initial payment of $912. Later, I decided the configuration of the gutters around the pergola would not work. I called THI and told them so. They said JR would come over the next day to discuss the matter. He came to my home. He said his general manager would not allow any configuration of the gutters other than that installed, so we agreed to have the gutters over the pergola removed. Sometime after November 21, my new door arrived and was installed. However, again to my surprise, it had not been pre-painted as I expected. A day or so later, I received a call from THI telling me that I had "forgotten" to give the door installers the check for the balance of the cost of the door. I reminded them that the door had not yet been painted as required. On or about November 26, late in the day, THI's painter showed to paint the door. He said he needed to come back the next day to sand and finish the door, but did not. I telephoned him, and he came back on December 1. He had to completely strip the door and re-paint it. When he completed the door, I gave him the $1734 remaining for the purchase, installation and painting of the door. Sometime after December 1, THI's painting crew came by to paint the brick siding on the front of my house. They completed that work. However, I did not pay them, since the matter of the gutters had not yet been resolved. A day or so later, THI called me to get the $913 outstanding, asking whether I wanted to mail them the check have them send someone over to pick it up, I reminded them that removal of the gutters over my pergola had not yet been completed and that I would not pay them any more money until the work was completed. Over the next few weeks, I got a call or two from THI saying my door had been painted and wanting their payment, and I explained that the gutter removal was not yet complete. Because of the holidays, I waited until January 5 and called THI to remind them that the gutters over my pergola had not been removed and that I was holding my final payment until they were. "Amy" at THI said she'd have him call me. I received no call from JR that day or that week. On Thursday, January 7, two days after my phone conversation with Amy on January 5, I received a call from Amy at 2:30 pm. She left a voicemail telling me she "just got word" that my door had been completed. She said she "just wanted to call" to make sure I was happy and to "make arrangements either to come pick up a check" or if I'd prefer, I could call her back with a credit card number that she could take over the phone so we could be "good as done." I returned Amy's call that evening at 5:41 pm. I spoke with someone other than Amy. I angrily told her of the call I had received from Amy and said there had been no remaining issue with my door. The issue holding up completion of our agreements, as I had explained to Amy two days earlier, was the removal of the gutters above my pergola. She said she would have Amy call me. Amy called on the morning of January 8. I told her I wanted the gutter above my pergola removed as agreed, and that if THI did not do so by the end of the week I would use the balance due THI to have someone else do so. She said one of THI's crew chiefs would be at my home on, January 9, between 10:00 am and noon, to remove the gutters. "Sergio," the chief of the painting crew, did show up as promised and did remove most of the gutter assembly above my pergola. He forgot, however, to remove a metal diverter from the roof and someone had to return later to do that. Someone else had to return after that to properly seal the holes that the screws from the removed diverter had made in my roof. Today, January 19, Ralph Nevarez, who I understand to be THI?s general manager, came by. Together, we confirmed that all the contracted work had been completed to our mutual satisfaction, adjusted my balance due to reflect the removal of the gutters over the pergola, and completed our agreed work to our mutual satisfaction.

Texas Home Improvement painted the exterior of our house. First they spray washed the rock which made a huge difference. Their sprayer is very powerful and really cleaned the limestone and removed the mildew from the Memorial Day rains. Next they sanded the paint, then primed. I was at home throughout the process to be sure they did all the steps, which to me, makes all the difference as to the outcome of the job and why I contracted with them. Then they painted. They were fast and very good at their craft. The paint we used is Cool Wall. It is a lifetime paint, heat reflective, water repellant, mildew repellant and has a fire retardant rating. The paint has a brightness and clarity to it I love. It will keep our home looking fresh and I love the fact that this is a permanent pain plus heat reflective. We will not have to paint the house again! I am in residential real estate and know good painters are hard to find, especially ones that will take the time to go thru the steps necessary to ensure a good and lasting job. Texas Home Improvement did everything they said and I will definitely use them again for our next home repair.
