The sculpture was carved by hand in wood and then cast in resin with a bronze finish and aged with black wax. I was inspired to create it by a scene in a novel I wrote titled ‘Videgoutantlle’ which can be be found on Kindle and I hope contextualizes what some might consider the rather bizarre nature of the work.

My website, www.curious-sculpture.com contains a paragraph which describes how, why and when the item makes its first appearance but the complete novel throws much more light onto how this somewhat peculiar object came into existence.

There is no philosophical underpinning or grandiose justification of its form or indeed the subject matter – it is simply a sculpture which I feel has a certain organic purity , hence its title, Le Racine (The Root).
