Armstrong Acting Studios

Armstrong Acting StudiosFeaturing classes for professional film and TV performance, Armstrong Acting Studios has locations in both Toronto and Los Angeles. The company holds in-studio and virtual classes, workshops, consultations, and self-tape coaching. Armstrong Acting Studios focuses on creative and authentic performances that go beyond industry expectations—which has landed alumni in projects including “Gossip Girl,” “Manifest,” and “The Umbrella Academy.” Classes are available for all experience levels and ages, and are led by working actors.

How to apply: Applicants can express interest in different classes online. Please note that some classes have requirements, which may include previous experience or agent representation.

Alza Acting Studio

The studio’s faculty lead a fun and diverse range of classes taught by actors, directors, musicians, and producers. EVN Film Studios

EVNClasses at EVN Film Studios are renowned for their focus on the personal, mastering a truthful performance, and the principle that acting is “being and doing.” All experience levels are welcome for these small, on-camera classes that are filmed for playbacks, critiques, and retakes. Founder Earl Nanhu has more than 30 years of teaching experience, including 10 years at L.A.-based acting boot camps.

With more than 25 years of experience, namesake founder Cindy Tanas takes a holistic approach to film acting. Miriam Laurence Studio

Miriam Laurence StudioMiriam Laurence Studio, which focuses on an integrated Method acting system, is led by its namesake founder. Miriam Laurence has over 35 years of experience and has trained in Lee Strasberg’s Master Class, earning multiple post-graduate certifications in directing. In-person and online classes include warm-ups, acting techniques, scene studies, monologues, and in-camera skills. Classes are kept small, with no more than 10 students. Milne Acting Studio

Here you will find improv, audition-focused, and self-tape courses, as well as bootcamps. Some classes even cover creating a demo reel, which you’ll receive for personal use at the end of the course. Toronto Film School

Toronto Film SchoolThe Toronto Film School offers a full-time 18-month program for film and TV acting at the Dundas Square campus. Based on the Stanislavsky method and taught by professional actors, the course covers vocal, movement, and improv skills, as well as the business side of the industry. Upon graduation, students receive a diploma certification, a set of professional headshots, a demo reel, a short film they acted in, and voiceover files.
