Thomas Eichin – Director of Professional Teams

Thomas Eichin has been responsible for all internal processes of the professional area, both men's and women's, at Bayer 04 as "Director Licensing" since 1 July 2023. Eichin's areas of responsibility include staff, organisation, infrastructure, logistics and nutrition. In addition, the "Licensing Director" is the interface from the licensing to the medical department, including other areas within the club. In his role, Eichin reports to Sport Managing Director Simon Rolfes.

Thomas Eichin's playing career began in 1972 with Eintracht Freiburg and continued with Freiburger FC at the age of 17. The defender then moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1985, where he played for 12 years.

While still playing, Eichin completed courses in sports management. After hanging up his boots and completing his DFB coaching qualification (A licence), the Freiburg native first worked as an assistant coach at Borussia Mönchengladbach before joining the Kölner Haie ice hockey team in 1999. There, he first worked as marketing manager, then two years later as managing director. In 2013, he returned to professional football, serving as sporting managing director at SV Werder Bremen for three years. After a short period as sporting managing director at TSV 1860 München in 2016, he became managing director of the sports management agency and ProSiebenSat.1 subsidiary SAM Sports in Munich in August 2017.
