In August of 2018, I had treatment at Ascent Dental Group. The treatment that day was to include 2 extractions. During treatment, the dentist perforated my sinus cavity, so the 2nd extraction was not completed. At that time, front desk staff said I could pay and have 2nd extraction billed through insurance that day, so it would be complete and I could come in and have the procedure finished later. I paid $1887.20 for services that day, which included cost of 2nd extraction. Today, I went back to have the work finished. I mentioned repeatedly that I was just there to have the work done, which had already been billed and paid for - and that I no longer had dental insurance. I mentioned it to all staff including the dentist. They took a couple xrays, which caught me off guard, not saying that it would cost any money. Several minutes later I was told it would cost me $375. I left having nothing done.Minutes later I got an email saying I owed nearly $1,997, costs for August and for today. I had paid $1887.20 in August. They didn't know. I told them it was wrong and they corrected. The difference was apx $165, because they had billed me in August for that second extraction. They confirmed that them doing so was healthcare fraud and they should not have done that. If they had not done this and had provided me with the correct information, I would have had this 2nd tooth done right away while I was insured. Now, I've lost those benefit because they told me that it had been billed - and the accounting shows that it was, and know they admit to the errors, but also claim they didn't make errors.I need to be reimbursed $440. That is $165 I paid for in August for unreceived services (which they did fraudulently/illegally bill me for - and then the $275 they charged me for today's services (xray, dentist look at my tooth for 15 secs), which I never agreed to and wasn't told there would be a charge, having told them over and over I just wanted services I already paid for.
