5 years of ACADEMY – stage arts school for young people of all cultures aged between 13 and 19 in Berlin Kreuzberg
When the project began five years ago with the first 40 young people, nobody could have imagined how enthusiastically and successfully young people from Berlin would be able to present themselves on stage. ACADEMY is now five years old and has taught 260 young people acting, dancing and singing in 4,000 hours of lessons. Since then, nine performances have been presented on stage, which have been seen by a total of 5,500 spectators. The ACADEMY project won the German Cultural Promotion Prize 2007 and is one of the 365 selected locations in the Land of Ideas this year.
