Description:

Cement only, not a mix. Type-S grade Masonry Cement is used to make mortar for setting concrete or clay roof tiles, laying brick, concrete block or stone in the construction of chimneys, walls, planters, outdoor grills and for pointing up or stuccoing old and new walls. Exceeds ASTM Specs C 387 and C 270 for Type S Mortar. Easy to tint.

Mixing:

Use the following mix proportions to make general purpose mortar:

• Mix together 1 part of Masonry Cement (This bag contains 78 lbs. [35.3 kg] or 1 cu. ft. [2830 cu.cm.])
• 3 parts masonry sand or general purpose sand.
• Add approximately 4 ¾ gallons (18 L) of clean water. Mix until uniform, lump free consistency.
• POT LIFE: Use the mortar within 1 hour after mixing.

Yield:

• One 78 lb. bag (35.3 kg) of Masonry Cement will make 3 cu. ft. (0.1 cu. m.) of mortar.
• One 78 lb. bag (35.3 kg) of Masonry Cement makes enough mortar to lay approximately 150 standard bricks or approximately 40-8 inch concrete blocks with 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) mortar joints.
