Encadernação da época com a lombada em pele com nervos e ferros gravados a ouro. Cortes das folhas dourado.
Exemplar com ex-libris de J. D. Santos Lapa e com sublinhados e anotações a lápis nas margens, preserva as capas e a lombada de brochura.
Contém prefácio, lista alfabética das letras dos nomes dos artistas japoneses mais importantes, bibliografia, índice analítico, índice das gravuras e índice geral.
O original em alemão foi publicado em 1897.
Trabalho de grande rigor e abrangência, que se tornou uma obra de referência sobre esta área da história da arte.
Woldemar von Seidlitz (São Petersbourg 1850 Dresden 1922). Historiador de arte alemão de origem russa. Desempenhou funções de assistente do director do Museu das pinturas e das Gravuras de Berlim de 1879 a 1884. De 1885 a 1918 foi conselheiro do Directório Geral das Reais Colecções de Arte e Ciência de Dresden.

Cotemporary binding with leather spine with raised bands and gilt tools. Gilt edges.
Copy with ex-libris from J. D. Santos Lapa and with underlining and annotations in pencil in the margins. Preserves the paperback covers and spine.
Contains preface, alphabetical list of the letters of the names of the most important Japanese artists, bibliography, analytical index, index of the prints and general index.
The original, in German, was published in 1897.
Work of great rigour and scope, which has become a reference work on this area of art history.
Woldemar von Seidlitz (St Petersburg 1850 - Dresden 1922). German art historian of Russian origin. He served as assistant to the director of the Berlin Museum of Paintings and Prints from 1879 to 1884. From 1885 to 1918, he was a counsellor of the General Directory of the Royal Art and Science Collections in Dresden.

About Livraria Castro e SIlva
Founded in 1957, by Ezequiel Castro e Silva, LIVRARIA CASTRO E SILVA is a bibliographic commercial organization, well known in the antique book market and amongst the antiquarian booksellers, both in Portugal and abroad, for being one of the most distinguished Portuguese specialists in its area, dealing in books through several continents. We seek to maintain a family tradition that goes back to the second decade of the last century. Our main activity is the edition and periodic publication of bibliographic catalogues.
Aiming to provide faster access to our catalogues, better stock information and improving communication with our clients, in 2003 we launched our website www.castroesilva.com, allowing all interested parts an easier access to registration and order of our catalogues. This webpage has a bibliographical database which seeks to replace the old file system, in itself an historical and probably unique tool, while allowing us the means to spread information about our books and contributing to the general bibliographical research.
We are convinced that personal contact should always be privileged so all interested parts can visit us at our shop, where those seeking rare, antique books, for collecting or studying can find and examine them in the private quiet environment such activity requires.
