First edition with this title and from this publisher. Beacon #298 with the original 35 cents cover price. Condition: Very Good +. Appears unread, creases nears spine, micro-chips to extremities typical of vintage paperbacks of this age, pages are clean and binding tight. Scarce autograph and inscription on the title page by author A.E. Van Vogt. Originally titled "The House That Stood Still" first published in hardcover in 1950 and then published in the pulp magazine, Detective Book Magazine 1952 Winter issue. Beacon was the publisher of adult novels and published many stories from the top fiction writers of the day; Poul Anderson, Philip Jose Farmer, Brian Aldiss, Charles Willeford, Cyril M. Kornbluth & Judith Merril, Sam Merwin, Jr. and many more authors including A.E. Van Vogt. Signatures on Beacon books from any of these authors is scarce and as of this writing today this is the only known copy on the market signed by Vogt. Cover art by Gerald McConnel. Classic adult science pulp fiction with GGA cover art, rare signed collectible. 160 pgs. 16mo.
