Chicago: Bureau of Stage Hypnotism, 1901. First edition. Hardcover. g- to g. Quarto. 149pp. Original green cloth with gilt lettering on cover, protected by modern mylar. Decorative endpapers. Frontispiece photograph. "There are distinctly three classes of hypnotic entertainments: The first is the twenty-minute vaudeville act, an entirely new departure from the old lines of entertainment; the second is the two-hour hypnotic entertainment, and the third is the thirty-minute lecture. These three cases cover all that could be popular in the hypnotic show. The first two aim at the entertaining features and are designed to please; the last is to instruct and must be dealt with in accordance with the well established rules of the hall, the fraternal assemblage or the clinic." (Author). Illustrated with poignant b/w photography. Binding with some wear along edges, chips at corners and head and tail of spine. Starting at inside front cover with decorative and free front endpaper and frontispiece loose. Block lightly age-toned. Starting at inside back cover. Binding in overall good-, interior in good condition.
