Holistic and Biological Dentistry

Holistic medicine and dentistry involves the whole body. We understand that your mouth plays an integral role in your overall health and want to treat every part of you, including your body, mind, spirit, and smile.

Biological dentistry is based on the concept that all dental therapies should work in harmony with the body’s natural ability to heal and repair itself. You can see below how we approach dentistry to help provide you with optimum health.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality care treating causes, not symptoms, and focusing on the body as a whole and not a collection of separate body parts. All while offering the least toxic, most biocompatible options and treatments. If you are looking for a dental team who will listen to your needs and provide care to meet your values, contact Center for Advanced Dentistry in Franklin, TN to schedule your appointment with us today!

Our Approach

Minimally-invasive techniques

Teeth may require restoration more than once over their lives. Unfortunately, too often the enamel and inner structure of a tooth (dentin) are over-drilled and over-prepared, leaving a small amount of tooth structure to hold a filling, crown, or bridge. At our office, we reduce tooth structure as little as possible when we prepare teeth for any type of restoration. We strive to keep all the tooth structure that we can; respecting the teeth in whatever procedure we are doing. Future re-treatment of teeth is aided by preserving tooth structure in the beginning.

Safe mercury removal

Over your lifetime, mercury leaks from your amalgam fillings each time you eat and chew, traveling via the bloodstream throughout your body and finally accumulating in major organs. While this toxic, heavy metal travels to every organ of your body, it especially favors the brain. We provide safe (SMART certified), amalgam removal after which you will pursue a safe detox protocol to release and remove whatever metals have stored themselves in your system. We of course offer mercury-free fillings and crowns for when they are needed!

Fluoride-free hygiene

Our office does not use fluoride as a part of our holistic hygiene treatment. You and your family can relax knowing that no toxic products are utilized by any care provider here. Your hygienist is experienced in the traditional scaling & polishing of your teeth, as well as in deep scaling and oral ozone therapies. Your gums receive a full-mouth periodontal exam to establish your personal periodontal base-line, which is used to compare your periodontal health during subsequent visits. Additionally, each hygiene visit includes a thorough examination of your head and neck as well as an intraoral exam using a specialized laser to detect any evidence of oral cancer or any other pathology.

Ceramic implants

Dental implants are the best way to replace missing teeth as they provide natural function and feel. We offer, and encourage in most cases, the option of ceramic implants over titanium metal implants. While both sides of the implant world feel that their type integrates better with the bone, there may be some situations where titanium implants are the only type a patient is able to use. If you are in need of a dental implant, we will discuss these options during your consultation.

Ozone therapies

In dentistry, ozone has changed the game since it kills every microbe-bacteria, virus, fungus, parasite, etc. on contact. Ozone has changed how we practice dentistry, as well as the lives of our patients, and we consider it a very important tool in our practice. Some of the benefits include: reversing tooth decay, sterilizing prior to fillings or cementing crowns, reducing TMJ pain, promoting bone regrowth around the teeth, aiding in deep healing for periodontal disease situations, and much more!

Airway focused dentistry

We believe in the importance of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy by a trained professional to help restore your face and mouth to its proper function. This therapy allows you to be able to properly speak, breathe, and eat. When it comes to Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, it’s important to work with your dentist, orthodontist, and other specialists to correct any issues at play.
