Its unique structure was built entirely in tuff in 1900 with vaulted ceilings and original floor mosaic , as well as our " SASSI " a difference that the latter especially in the part of SASSO CAVEOSO are carved in the rock ( so SASSI ) . It has large rooms with heights that exceed 5 m and some of the shelves or cabinets are made in the perimeter walls as they reach a thickness of at least 70/80 cm. Moreover, like all the houses in the historic center, they have inside the closets that were then used as real bedrooms under the floor. The holiday home today available to guests occupies only one of the 2 (two) apartments in particular the smaller one of about 50 square meters.
Holiday House "Nonna Bruna" was cozy and unique home of my grandparents, remains in the historical center a few steps from the entrance to the "Sasso Barisano", behind him is the "Sasso Caveoso". Let am a fan of my city. In past years, in the summer, after each school year always ended with good results, I was the so-called "guide" fregiandomi honor of having accompanied and being interviewed by Italian and foreign newspapers and crew. I remember doing as a guide in the magazine's journalists: CAR of companies A.C.I. and Corriere Della Sera. All the traditions, customs, and what life was like in the famous SASSI, I have been sent by my grandparents and my parents. I can then pass on the story of my city and the sites. In addition to the SASSI there to visit the beautiful Cathedral and the famous rock churches, the same that are found in Turkey and Cappadocia, founded by the famous Byzantine monks fleeing persecution during iconoclastic war, or "image." I'm a doctor in computer science, software technical consultant.
SASSI is a cluster of houses partially built and largely carved into the rock already Heritage and 2019 European Capital of Culture, a unique stature within the landscape and in its design feature. The SASSI are divided into two large clusters of different periods: SASSO SASSO CAVEOSO BARISANO and then there is a small glimpse of houses cut into the rock that is identified as: District Albanian. In addition to the SASSI you can admire and visit some of the most beautiful cave churches with frescoes dating back to the Byzantine period preserved in good condition located in the Sassi and in the famous park of Murgia also said the rock churches. Rock comes from rock cliff so, it is then in the rock-hewn churches founded by the famous Byzantine monks during the iconoclastic struggle or fight against the image representations, the same can be found in Turkey and Cappadocia. Indeed those monks were from those areas. E 'can also visit the beautiful Cathedral in Romanesque style that contains works such as the famous stone crib, always in the Chapel of the Annunciation stone, etc.
