Check it out: “Chronicle” chick J.C. Monahan did such a bang-up job for her story on the Brockton Fair’s Demolition Derby for tonight’s show that she wound up in the hospital!
J.C. put the pedal to the metal for the segment on tonight’s “Extreme Driving” show, which has Monahan and co-host Anthony Everett doing some dirt bike racing, NASCAR driving and Demolition Derby-ing. But J.C. took a hard hit in the muddy vehicular mayhem and traded her Derby car for an ambulance ride to Good ?Samaritan Hospital!
“The best part,” J.C. said, “was explaining what had happened to the trauma surgeon in the E.R. It went something like this: ‘Did the airbags deploy?’ ‘Well no, they were taken out of the car.’ ‘Did you hit the windshield?’ ‘Um … there was no windshield … it was a demolition derby. The point is to smash into the other cars.’ ‘I see — so you’re a professional driver?’ ‘Not quite, I’m a television anchor.’ ”
Thankfully hospital tests showed J.C. was fine, except for a mild case of whiplash. Her piece airs at 7:30 tonight on Channel 5.
