If you are looking to enjoy some fine yakiniku (grilled meat) in Tokyo, then this high-end restaurant is the place to be. Opened in January 2018, yakiniku byakutan features a minimalistic yet classy décor. The restaurant also offers private space for organising business meets and special occasions.

yakiniku byakutan is known to serve carefully selected local produce, primarily A5-rank Japanese black beef. The meat is cooked on binchotan charcoal in a clay grill that gives a smoky flavour to the food. Additionally, one can enjoy Naengmyeon, Asian and global cuisine as well.

I tried out the popular Shintama, which is the inner thigh of Japanese black beef. The beautifully cut meat had a mild-sweet flavour and was light on the stomach.

However, the highlight of my meal was the Japanese black beef rib roast. The thickly-cut meat was succulent and the earthy flavour from the clay grill elevated my overall dining experience.

If you wish to enjoy high-quality raw meat, then yakiniku byakutan is highly recommended. They have fresh meat that is exclusively processed to be eaten raw. The dish is topped with egg yolk, adding a rich flavour to it. Mix it with the restaurant’s sweet dipping sauce.

I opted for a good wine that perfectly complemented my meal. There was an in-house sommelier who helped me in choosing from the wide selection of wine.

Verdict The Japanese black beef rib roast is highly recommended for all meat lovers.
