My mother was being released from the hospital into rehab / LTC on 5.1.2021 and was scheduled to be delivered via Ambulance to Muskego Health Care Center. All of this is being treated as a "rush" and MHCC sent over the paperwork for me to sign as my mother''s MPOA and POA at around 10 a.m. that morning. I read the contract and they have a section that obligates the POA financially for expenses incurred by the patient if specific steps aren''t followed (i.e. medicaid filled out on time, other insurances are kept in good standing, etc.) A POA should never take on financial responsibility for the debt owed by the person they represent. I told them I had a problem with the contract and wouldn''t sign it. A coordinator was attempting to work with me to change the contract, and about 10 min before my mother was supposed to be transported, the owner called. He asked me if my mom had another placements ( I think he was assuming the answer was no and was going to pressure me to sign) I said yes and then he replied that if I didn''t sign, I should cancel her placement and send her to another facility. He also tried to claim that this paperwork was required by Wisconsin law. Placement paper work yes, a section financially obligating me to pay for my mother debt, no. He told me to call the hospital to cancel the placement 5 minutes before she was supposed to leave. The entire experience is troubling on a number of levels. I''d give zero stars if that was an option.
