EMERALD ISLE — Sea turtle season nesting season is rapidly approaching – the normal “state date” is May 1 – and the Emerald Isle Sea Turtle Patrol is advising oceanfront property owners and beachgoers to take precautions to help the turtles.

- Fill in holes if you dig them. Nesting turtles can become trapped, people, including turtle patrol members, walking at night may get seriously injured, and holes are also a danger to emergency vehicles.
