Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the answers to some of the questions we are frequently asked about our cleaning services. If you have a question that isn’t answered below, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Why should I clean my carpets?
Invisible to the eye, dirty carpets are populated by microscopic organisms, such as dust mites, which cause allergies, disease producing bacteria, foul and unpleasant odours and contaminants which are not conducive to good health. Regular vacuuming alone is not sufficient to remove these. If optimum health is your concern then a clean environment in which you live and work should be your top priority.
How often should my carpets be cleaned?

We recommend that carpets be cleaned at least once, but ideally several times a year in order to preserve their hygienic quality and appearance.

Clearly the frequency of cleaning depends on a number of factors, such as whether shoes are worn or not on the carpets. whether pets are present, and the number of residents at the property.

Which stains can be removed by carpet cleaning?

There are such a great variety of stains that can damage your carpet, such as wine, food, mud, coffee, tannin, grease, ink, or animal stains it is difficult to give generalisations as to how effective our efforts would be to remove stains thoroughly.

Some older stains are hard to remove and the use of ‘off the shelf’ stain removers can sometimes actually damage/discolour carpets further by way of ‘setting’ the stain. That is why prompt action is always needed with regard to a fresh stain.

Our goal is to achieve optimum stain removal without discolouring your carpet or damaging it in any other way. We will not give up until we are assured that we have made our best effort to clean your carpet thoroughly and leave it stain-free.

I’ve had a carpet clean before – Why do my carpets get dirty so quickly afterwards?

Alternative cdo-it-yourself cleaning methods often utilise low quality detergents that leave behind a sticky residue or collection of oily dirt attracting molecules called ‘micelles’. These attach to your carpet fibres/fabrics and, even when dry, attract all types of dirt and residue resulting in your carpets and upholstery becoming dirty again very quickly.

By using a professional cleaner with industry proven high quality equipment and chemicals, you will receive a thorough clean that leaves no residue, just clean, fresh and safe carpets and upholstery.

How much do you charge?

The cost of any carpet cleaning depends on the cleaning method and system required (Preventive, Corrective or Salvage) based on soil levels and the room measurements in metres squared. Upholstery is priced on a ‘per seat’ basis but, again, the cost may increase with heavier soil levels.

This is why it is important to have your carpets and furnishings cleaned regularly. A maintenance clean once a year will be far cheaper than a salvage clean every 3 years! Extra treatments such as carpet and fabric protection will incur additional charges.

How do you clean and with what method?

We have a variety of cleaning methods which we can employ to clean your carpets or upholstery. Once we have identified the fibre or fabric type, construction and the degree of soiling, we will be in a position to advise you on the method to best clean your carpets or upholstery.

Our most commonly used method is Hot Water Extraction, utilising our top of the range Prochem SteempPro PowerPlus extraction units.

Are your products/chemicals safe for children and pets?

All of our cleaning products are environmentally friendly and 100% safe for children and pets in the home.

We only use Prochem products, the leading recognised name in carpet and upholstery cleaning.

Prochem products have been considered as the industry standard for over 35 years and are used in many different countries around the world.

Many of their cleaning products are certified Woolsafe and are recognised for their superior quality and unparalleled performance, something which many other cleaning products simply cannot compete with.

How long does the carpet cleaning process take?

The process depends on the size of the area to be cleaned and the degree of soiling, but generally we can complete an entire home carpet clean within a few hours.

For commercial properties and offices we prefer to work “after-hours” to minimise disruption.

Of course, the size of the area to be cleaned will determine the time required for completion. But be assured that we are quite efficient with our labour and we are sensitive to your requirements that the process be completed as quickly as possible with minimum disruption.

How long will the carpets or upholstery take to dry?

The amount of time required for the carpet to dry depends on a number of factors, such as the humidity of the house, the exposure to sunlight, the temperature of the home and so forth.

Obviously, the less traffic on the carpet will hasten the drying process. In most cases the carpets will be dry in 2-3 hours. Upholstery is normally dry in 3-4 hours. In some cases, an Airmover may be utilised to speed up the drying process.
