Funny musical is truly "fetch"; swearing, racy moments.

NOT A MOVIE FOR YOUNGER THAN 17!

I am not sure how this could be rated PG-13. I think this needs to be re-reviewed. The amount of sex, implied, spoken about and otherwise and the way girls are treated, underage drinking and getting drunk and how they glorify all these negative things throughout the movie makes it clearly for a much older age group. Definitely 16 and older. The reviewer left out many things under the "Sex, Romance & Nudity" category - A boys says that he can tell a girls bra size by one jump - shots to a girl laughing and jumping up and down with her breasts bouncing. A male teacher teaching sex ed says to the class " first we will learn about abstinance, then condoms, then choking" (It is just creepy that they have a male teacher saying this to a class!- like this is what he does in his free time!) A boy and girl are pationately kissing in a closet - the girl has no top on with her leg around the boy and the boy is in his underwear - The girsl do a Christmas dance to "Rockin Around the Pole" instead of Rockin around the Christmas Tree. The dance is very sexual and imitates pole dancing! There are many more as well. The whole movie is kids, teachers and parents sexually harrassing each other in every scene. I love common sense media, but I would ask that they re-review this movie and give all the specifics related to sexual content and change their age rating from PG-13 so parents can make a good informed decision. These are not positive messages to give to young girls or boys.

Trash - Common Sense Media has lost its way!

Common sense media is turning into a common joke. This movie is NOT appropriate for a 13 year old - and to make it a "common sense teen" selection just shows how far this company has gone from its original intention of keeping families safe from trash.

Is It Any Good?

Put your worries aside: The Mean Girls musical slaps. It's hard to believe anyone wouldn't have a good time watching this tuneful, somewhat campy reimagining of Tina Fey's early 2000s hit. Given that the original film was enjoyed by many of 2024's parents when they were young, this version offers them a laugh-out-loud arm squeeze that they can squeal over right alongside their teens.

Best positioned for those who know and love the Lindsay Lohan version, this take on Cady's story ratchets everything up a notch: the story elements, the humor, even The Plastics' cleavage. While it's impossible not to miss the phenomenal original cast, the talent here pays homage without copying their work. Rapp's Regina George isn't a persnickety devil in a Santa miniskirt; she's a sexy "apex predator" who roars, a bully somehow even more arrogant in her ability to make anyone wither. With witty song lyrics that seem destined to become teen anthems, 2024's Mean Girls—like its predecessor—is likely to be a must for teen get-togethers. Mean has never been so nice.
