The psychomotricity paths told by parents

The psychomotricity courses for children aged 4 to 6 years carried out from May 2021 until the end of January 2022 were a very interesting and rewarding experience for everyone: parents, children and also for the psychomotor therapist. We operators of the Wemi Pimentel Space have verified how well-founded our hypothesis of interest in this type of activity was on the part of the families of the neighborhood in which we operate: we were able to offer a qualified activity, but also an opportunity for parents to reflect on the raising their children. The paths also proved to be a precious space for relationships and the creation of bonds for the children and their parents. To try to explain the value of these psychomotor workshops we have chosen to let some parents speak:

Marta: my daughter needed this type of path to be able to contain certain of her attitudes together with the other children

Ilia: it was very nice and very important to know that my daughter was following a physical path because for us motor development was an important point, or rather her motor development was accompanied at the same time by emotional work on emotions. For example, what my daughter has reported several times is the initial phase of destruction before the new construction as very engaging and important. This made me reflect on the importance of these paths, on how in everyday life we parents can also be careful in conveying certain messages and also guaranteeing spaces for expression. It was also very nice because the children didn't know each other and a group was created even though my daughter didn't know anyone and I see that, despite arriving at the end of the school day and therefore tired, she always enjoys participating.

Alice: I think that being able to go through a psychomotor path for any child is important because I think it is a space of discovery for children, discovery of themselves and others, of being together. I imagine that there are small challenges and being able to face small challenges or even just experiences designed by an adult in a protected situation is really an important form of growth. For this reason I am very happy that the journey has begun and that we have been able to continue. Because I think that the continuity of the child's and the group's research is also a value.
