EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Imagine: you wake up some sunny Evansville morning (or afternoon) feeling terrible. Maybe you partied a little too hard at the karaoke bar last night, or maybe you’re worried your toddler has brought home the latest plague from daycare.

Hope may not be lost.

Hydration clinics are popping up across the country as an aid after a big night of drinking or to combat deyhdration. Now Evansville is getting in on the action with its first opening on the city's North Side.

IV Therapy Solutions Evansville on North First Avenue has a series of IV treatments and vitamin shots aimed at helping with different needs.

IV clinics such as these have been popular in bigger cities. The trend started in 2012 in Las Vegas with a lounge called Hangover Heaven promising a quick fix for the morning after a night out.

Since then, these clinics have spread across the country, expanding their offerings from just hangover relief to helping with vitamin intake and other remedies.

"We’re getting good response out of this because people who do know about it are really excited, and people who don't know have mentality of 'I didn’t know they could do that,'" said Todd Veeck, who handles media relations for the company.

Todd Veeck's wife, Abby Veeck, is part owner of the company along with Rick Wallis and Dr. James Spiller, who is an emergency room physician in the area.

Wallis also owns the ambulance service, Medic On-Site, providing medics locally for things like events at the Ford Center.

The idea for the hydration clinic came after the Veecks tried out IV treatments to get vitamin boosts in other cities while they traveled.

The couple liked the treatments and wanted to bring it to Evansville. They partnered with Spiller and Wallis to open a local location.

When a customer walks in, they can select which IV treatment they prefer. The most popular one right now has been the Myers Cocktail, which was pioneered by the late Dr. John Myers, who was a physician at Baltimore's Johns Hopkins Hospital. It contains a mixture of vitamins and minerals. Equally in demand is the hangover relief.

After selecting the preferred IV treatment, the customer fills out a medical questionnaire, and a registered nurse administers the dosage. Most IV treatments last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes.

Treatment costs vary with vitamin shots starting at $25, hydration bags at $60, hangover reliefs at $100 and vitamin mixtures like the Myers Cocktail at $125.

The idea behind IV treatments is the vitamins and minerals go directly into your bloodstream improving retention, Veeck said.

"If you go in feeling terrible, like feel a cold coming, on you'll feel better and notice a difference. If you go in feeling OK already and just do it for a boost, you won't notice as much of a difference. But people say they really like these treatments," he said.

Their hours are currently limited to 1-6 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. It is at 206 N. First Ave.
