    Touchscreen & Steering Wheel Control

Two-Piece Configuration (Detachable): The Boss Elite BE10ACP digital multimedia receiver features a two-piece floating display configuration with an external 10.1" capacitive touchscreen monitor and a separate single-DIN (2") source unit. Separating the large touchscreen monitor from the chassis allows the BE10ACP to be installed in a standard single-DIN (2") dash opening. Unlike other floating screen designs where the touchscreen monitor is fixed to the source unit after installation, the BE10ACP's floating touchscreen monitor is detachable to deter theft (no protective case included); simply press the two buttons on the front-panel behind the monitor and disconnect the proprietary connector to detach the floating monitor from the source unit. The two components simply snap and connect back together when you are ready to use it again.

    • Floating Touchscreen Monitor: The floating 10.1" touchscreen monitor connects to the front-panel of the single-DIN source unit once its mounted in the dash. Depending on your vehicle's factory radio location and the location of other factory equipment, you may need to adjust the mounting position of the touchscreen monitor in order to prevent impairment of vehicle driving operations. The floating touchscreen monitor offers horizontal (+/- 15 degrees), vertical (up/down) and tilt (+/- 25 degrees) adjustability to ensure the best fit and usability in your vehicle's dash. The touchscreen monitor measures 10.25" (w) x 6.5625" (h) x 4.125" (d).
    • Single-DIN Source Unit: The source unit mounts in a standard single-DIN (2") dash opening using a vehicle specific kit (sold separately). The source unit contains all the BE10ACP's input and output connections. The source unit's chassis measures 7.025" (w) x 1.985" (h) x 5.605" (d). The unit's nose measures 6.795" (w) x 1.855" (h) x 0.755" (d). The included floating touchscreen monitor attaches to the source unit's front-panel insert and proprietary connector.

    Notes:

    • Vehicle specific dash kit, radio replacement interface, wiring harness, antenna adapter, plus other accessories and tools needed for installation are all sold separately.
    • The Boss Elite BE10ACP will not fit in some vehicles with a single-DIN opening due to its large 10.1" touchscreen monitor interferring with your vehicle's factory equipment on the dash.

10.1" Capacitive Touchscreen: The 10.1" floating capacitive touchscreen monitor delivers a high-quality image with highly responsive touchscreen operation. It has a resolution of 1024 x 600 (614,400 total pixels) with a high contrast ratio, crystal clear display, and vivid text. Capacitive touchscreen operations include touch, swipe, and drag.

    • Wallpaper & Background: You can select between 4 pre-loaded wallpaper backgrounds. You cannot download a custom image.
    • Dimmer & Brightness Settings: You can manually adjust the LCD touchscreen monitor's brightness for day and nighttime viewing. You can also setup the unit to have the display dim when you turn your vehicle's lights on (the orange wire of the wiring harness must be connected to your vehicle's headlight circuit).
    • Date & Time Display: The receiver offers date (Month/Date/Year) and time (12 or 24 hour) display.

Note: For safety reasons, you cannot view a video source on the built-in touchscreen monitor as long as the vehicle is in motion. In order to display video, the light green wire (within harness) must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake light circuit, and the vehicle's parking brake must be engaged. The parking brake wire must also be connected and the parking brake engaged for certain setup functions and menu options. While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, metadata, and album artwork; as well as the CarPlay and Android Auto.

Rotary Knob and Touch Sensitive Controls: In addition to its 10.1" capacitive touchscreen, there are 4 touch-sensitive buttons and a 3-way rotary knob along the bottom edge of the touchscreen that operate Power On/Off, Volume Up/Down, Voice Recognition (for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Home Menu, and AM/FM Band. The unit offers variable color button illumination; choose Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, or White.

Optional Steering Wheel Control: The unit features a SWC (steering wheel control) input which lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional Metra, Maestro, or PAC steering wheel control adapter (sold separately).

    Android Auto & Apple CarPlay

Android Auto: The Boss Elite BE10ACP receiver supports the Android Auto app for Android smartphones running OS Oreo 8.0 or newer. Your compatible Android smartphone must be connected to the Boss receiver's USB port via the the USB cable that came with your smartphone (a USB extension cable may be required and sold separately), plus be paired via Bluetooth. Android Auto extends the Android platform into your car in a way that's purpose-built for driving and automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into a simple on-screen user interface. It's designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead. Features of Android Auto include -

    • Google Assistant: The Boss receiver enhances your Android Auto experience even more by incorporating Google Assistant using the head unit's external microphone and your car speakers for voice command and text-to-speech, which makes using Android Auto and all of its integrated applications fast, easy, and safe. You will need to press the "mic" button or say "OK Google" to activate the Google Assistant. Use the Google Assistant to make a call, send a message, reply to a message, get driving directions, or listen to music.
    • Google & Waze Maps: Use Google Maps to get where you're going with on-screen maps, voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and more. Select your destination by using the head unit's touchscreen or just say where you want to go through the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You can even listen to music from your Android Auto device or other connected source device while using Google Maps. If you prefer, you can switch over to a simpler version of the community-based Waze navigation app (version 4.27 or higher).
    • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the Boss receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. Use the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology to make a phone call, or have your text-messages read aloud to you while you concentrate on the road ahead; you can even reply to texts via voice command.
    • Music: Access your Android smartphone's music library through YouTube Music. You'll be able to browse music like you do on your smartphone with song/artist information display and album art. Use the receiver's touchscreen to select songs or just say what song you want to listen to through the head unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You also get access to online music and radio stations from Amazon Music, Tidal, Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Slacker Radio, & Tune-In. Music apps include song and station browsing, plus song/artist information and album art or station logo. Click here for a list of all compatible apps for Android Auto.

    Notes:

    • Make sure you plug in your Android smartphone to the BE10ACP's rear-panel USB port labeled "Apple CarPlay/Android Auto" with a USB-IF certified cable (not compatible with the USB port labeled "USB/Charging"). Use a USB cable that is under 6' long and avoid using any extension cable.
    • The initial setup for Android Auto requires that your vehicle be stopped and in park or have the parking brake engaged.
    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Android Auto is being used with a connected Android smartphone. You cannot have an Android Auto smartphone and Apple CarPlay iPhone plugged in at the same time.
    • Click here to learn more About Android Auto and to see what phones are compatible.

Apple CarPlay: Apple CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your USB-connected iPhone 5 or newer (running iOS 7.1+) with Lightning-connector in the car, while you stay focused on the road. Apple CarPlay takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and integrates them into the Boss Elite BE10ACP. Apple CarPlay offers an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, view maps, listen to music, and access messages from your compatible iPhone through the Boss Elite BE10ACP in-dash receiver. With Apple CarPlay, you can control these functions from the BE10ACP receiver's 10.1" touchscreen or activate Siri for minimized distraction.

    • Maps: Through Apple CarPlay, the power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars. If you have iOS 12.0 or newer on your iPhone with the latest version of Google Maps or Waze, you can choose to navigate via Google Maps or Waze instead of CarPlay. Google Maps and Waze do not support Siri voice control, but will have their own proprietary voice control function which has to be accessed through a touchscreen icon on the receiver.
    • Phone: With Apple CarPlay, you can use the BE10ACP's interactive touchscreen or ask Siri to make calls, return calls, and check voicemail. To dial a phone number, simply tap the "Phone" icon and Siri will ask you who you want to call. Using the touchscreen you can manually enter a phone number from the on-screen keypad, scroll through contacts, or select from recent and miss calls. In addition, you get access to your voicemails via touchscreen and Siri. When a call comes in, simply tap the "Phone" icon to answer. You'll carry on your side of the conversation through the included external microphone, while the other party is heard through your vehicle's speakers. You can emphasize or weaken the volume level the microphone. You can also select which car speaker outputs the caller audio; you can select All, Front-Left, Front-Right, or Front-Left/Right.
    • Text Messages: Apple CarPlay also lets you enjoy a better and safer way of text messaging with friends and family when you're on the road, through the Boss receiver and Siri. Through your voice commands, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages so that you never have to glance at your phone while behind the wheel. When a new message comes in a banner will come across the screen and Siri will read back the message for you. Text messages cannot be read or typed from the head unit's touchscreen to prevent driver distraction.
    • Music Library: CarPlay lets you access your music in your iPhone's music library, plus Apple Music from the Boss Elite BE10ACP. You can browse your music by Playlist, Artist, Song, etc.. just like you would on your iPhone from the BE10ACP's touchscreen. You can also use Siri to find and play back your music. The BE10ACP's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background. Tap the Now Playing icon on the Boss receiver's capacitive touchscreen and see song, artist, album information with Album Art displaying in the background. From the Now Playing screen you also get basic playback function, like Play/Pause, Previous Next/Track, Fast Forward/Rewind, and Repeat/Shuffle.
    • Audio Apps & Podcasts: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, podcasts, sports, news, and audiobooks - including Pandora, Tidal, Spotify, iHeart Radio, TuneIn Radio, Slacker Radio, Vox, Stitcher, MLB.com At Bat, CBS Radio News, NPR One, OverCast, Audiobooks.com & Audible (subscriptions and fees may app). Control them from the head unit's touchscreen or Siri just like you would from your iPhone. Your iPhone's touchscreen remains unlocked during CarPlay connection, so you are able to access additional music apps and listen to them through the Boss receiver; however these apps offer no control or display information from the head unit's touchscreen.
    • Apple HomeKit Compatible: CarPlay now supports control of Apple HomeKit enabled devices (sold separately) through Siri. Using CarPlay in your vehicle, you can ask Siri to close or open your garage door, turn on or off home lighting, increase or decrease the temperature of your  thermostat, as well as control select functions of other Apple HomeKit enabled devices and appliances. Click here for a list of compatible Apple HomeKit products.
    Notes:
    • Apple CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5 or newer running iOS 7.1 or newer.
    • Make sure your plug in your iPhone 5 or newer to the BE10ACP's rear-panel USB port labeled "Apple CarPlay/Android Auto" with an Apple certified Lightning-to-USB cable (not compatible with the USB port labeled "USB/Charging"). Use a USB cable that is under 6' long and avoid using any extension cable.
    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is being used with a connected iPhone.
    • You cannot have an Android Auto smartphone and Apple CarPlay iPhone plugged in at the same time.
Cellular & Data Plan Requirements: Access to CarPlay and Android Auto apps will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone or Android smartphone to connect to the Internet. Your compatible Apple or Android device will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, LTE (4G), or WiFi.

Smartphone Charging: The Boss Elite BE10ACP will also charge (5V/1.5A) your Android Auto compatible Android smartphone or Apple CarPlay compatible iPhone while connected via USB with the vehicle's ignition switch set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 4.2+EDR: The Boss Elite BE10ACP is equipped with built-in Bluetooth 4.2+EDR allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.4 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Boss receiver.

Secure Simple Pairing: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the Boss head unit without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. You can pair up to 5 devices, but only 1 device can be connected and used at a time. When an already paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically connects the unit.

Hands-Free Communication (External Mic): The Boss Elite BE10ACP allows for wireless communication between the head unit and your Bluetooth enabled smartphone. Thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the BE10ACP provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The receiver will display the caller's phone number and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer or end a call through the head unit's front-panel controls (or set the receiver to automatically answer the call). The BE10ACP allows you to carry on the phone conversation using the included external microphone and your car audio speakers. Your music will mute automatically during a call. You can make a call using the Boss receiver's LCD touchscreen via its on-screen keypad, your phone's transferred phonebook, or a list of your most recent calls.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The Boss Elite BE10ACP allows wireless play back of stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablet, or other device using a Bluetooth connection. You can control basic music playback functions, like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track from the Boss head unit (advanced  music browsing will still be done from your Bluetooth source device). The unit will also display song/artist information (no Album art).

Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.
    USB/AV/Camera Connectivity

The USB port allows for connection of a USB mass storage class device; such as a USB thumbdrive (up to 64GB) formatted in FAT32. The unit supports playback of a variety of music, video, and photo files loaded onto a compatible USB msc device. You can search by folder or file, control playback functions (such as Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track), well as view song/artist information - including album art. USB portable devices that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the receiver's USB port (5V/1.5A), and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or On. See chart below for compatible media files.

    Media Type USB MSC

    Video AVI, MKV, WMV

Automatic video switching can be set to 0.1, 0.5, 1, or 2 seconds. The unit will also display on-screen guidelines to assist you when backing up.

    Q
Can you use on a 48v golf cart?

    A
Greetings Sam. Thats an excellent question. 48v and 36v golf carts are normally outfitted with some type of voltage reducer. If your cart has headlights, tail lights, those are also 12 volt like the radio would be, then you have that voltage reducer already.

Can you play the radio in the background while Google Navigation Maps are up on the screen? Do the voice prompts for navigation play over the radio? Will the voice prompts mute or quiet the radio when giving directions?
    paul  Apr 10, 2024
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Paul. Thank you for your questions. Android auto, and radio are two separate sources. You can only use one source at a time. On the other hand, while using Android Auto you can play a supported music app at the same time as Google maps, AKA Spotify, Pandora etc. Those will play in the background while your Google maps are on the screen. When receiving turn by turn directions, they play thru your speakers, and music is not completely muted, but at a very low volume.

What would you say the best 6x9 speakers to get to hook up to this unit?

You will want to use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your vehicle's specific details to confirm fitment of any speakers, Matt. Using a speaker that is highly efficient with an efficiency of 90db or higher would provide great performance with the Boss BE10ACP-C. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car-Speakers.html

does this fit a 1998 toyota landcruiser 100 series without issue?
    rose  Dec 31, 2023
    1 answer
    A
The Boss BE10ACP-C is a physical fit in the 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser, Rose. Please use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your specific year, make, model, and trim. Choose the Boss radio and we list the available install accessories. You'll need to use the factory radio's brackets in order to install your new receiver. If you don't have the brackets, you can obtain them from your dealership. Our fit guide will confirm fit inside the dash but does not take into account what could be covered up by the large screen outside the dash. It is always a good idea to compare the listed screen measurements to ensure you do not cover any air vents or needed controls. We are always here to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Does this device clear the dash lip for my 1986 Ford Bronco II?
    jonathan  Dec 24, 2023
    1 answer
    A
We do not measure for protrusion of dashes with our Vehicle Guide, Jonathan. We can confirm fit inside the dash, it is always a good idea to measure carefully and compare to the listed monitor dimensions for the Boss BE10ACP-C. The monitor does stand proud from the chassis of the radio, and in your 1986 Bronco (not the Bronco II) I do see the recess in the factory dash that you are concerned about. Depth is listed at 4.125" from the chassis of the radio. Any radio's that simply do not fit after due diligence in measuring can be returned for a refund within the first 60-days. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, we did not measure clearance for the column shifter in the 2003 Ford Explorer. At the time that we researched that vehicle, floating display radios weren't available. The monitor measures 10.25" x 6.5625" and protrudes 4.125" from the radio opening in the dash.

Will this radio fit my 2010 accord coupe with a navigation system? I can't find any that will fit, especially because if the navigation system!
    hellenkells  Nov 17, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings. Thank you for your question. Technically, any aftermarket stereo is going to need adapters, and dash mounts. This Boss BE10 ACP C can fit the 2010 Accord with navigation, you jest need the installation parts to do that. Your factory navigation will not work with the enew stereo, you would lose the factory satellite radio if you have that, The factory back up camera will no longer work, and if you have a factory CD changer, that would be lost on the Accord as well. Other than that, get the parts with the stereo, and it will fit, and wire up.

Is it good for 12 inch subs far as sound quality?
    joseph  Sep 15, 2022
    1 answer
    A
Boss is the O.G. brand for Bassheads on a budget Joseph, and this Boss BE10ACP-C is no exception! It's got 4v pre-outs (twice as high as most in this price range), AND this Boss head unit's subwoofer pre-out utilizes its own low pass crossover which can be set to 50Hz, 80Hz, 120Hz, or 160Hz. You can adjust the subwoofer output's level (-14 to +1) independently from the overall volume, giving you a ton of control over those banging 12's as well as great sound quality. I see no issues here, good to go. Plus when you get the radio from us you get Boss's unheard of 5 year warranty!

Thanks for those great questions Willie. While connected with Carplay or Android Auto you can play music while using your phones GPS apps displayed on the screen, there is no onboard Navigation built in on this unit. You'll need to punch your VW's specific details into our online Vehicle Guide in the below link. This will show you whether it fits, and the possible install harness options. For instance, in an 08 VW Beetle with the Monsoon Audio the radio fits and keeps the factory amp working, no sweat! Is there a way around the parking brake connection requirement? Was thinking of installing this into a semi which doesnâ??t use the same type of braking system as cars.
    charles  Oct 05, 2021
    1 answer
    A
Ill try and help. I believe that the reason it talks about connecting to braking system is for power only. So there is a small wire that would need to be connected to the power on your reverse lights. Speaking about a regular vehicle, you connect that wire to the "hot" leg on your reverse lights so that when you put the vehicle in reverse it powers the camera and it automatically pops up on screen. I installed mine and didn't use anything on the braking system. I also connected the power to the running lights in rear so that whenever the running lights are on I can access the camera. I don't know if this answered the question but it's info I had to figure out on my own and I think it's what you were looking for. ????? ?

it says, it attaches to parking brake to access settings. will this work with manual trans vehicles? can you access settings without park signal?
    johny  Oct 05, 2021

    A
I don't think it makes any difference what kind of transmission you have. The reason for it attached to the parking brake is so you can't watch videos while you're driving. Brake on you can watch, brake off you can't watch. That simple.
    lawrence  Oct 12, 2021
    A
Yes. In my vehicle I didn't have a good place to pick up the input for that or the reverse. The park signal doesn't inhibit the settings. The only frustrating thing with this head unit is that it displays the backup camera reversed (L to R) from what you expect in a rear-view mirror. I thought I would be disappointed by the screen resolution, etc. but I love this carplay unit. Great value for the price.

I have a TJ with the license plate off to the left. Will the backup cam (or at least the guides) still work properly if it's not on the center of the back of my Jeep?
    kathryn  Aug 28, 2021

The backup lines do not move when you turn the steering wheel. You can move the lines in the UI on the radio to better match your path and the angle is pretty wide so it should still be good. I have this radio on my Hyundai Accent and something else on my TJ. The lines are solely for close enough reference, not to get super dialed in.
    sebastian  Aug 30, 2021
    A
Yes, mine is off to the left with the license plate. It works but it does skew the view. It's not center so it throws off your line of sight a bit and you'll have a dead spot on the right back bumper you'll have to be aware of.

You need to wire it into the back of the unit and it will have a video lead and power lead. Most vehicles have a grommet under the driver's side floor. You can look underneath to find it and then remove trim pieces on door sill and lift carpet.

If you use the positive wire for the camera on the head unit it does and you can turn it on using the "camera" button on the screen. If you use the positive on the reverse lights you cannot use the "camera" button
    noah  Aug 07, 2021
    A
Yes, if you wire it correctly. You have to run 2 extra wires (I used Red and Black) from the reverse light in the trunk to the camera power (also in the trunk). Check your car owner's manual which is + and which is - on the reverse lamp connector. You'll want to get something like the Dorman's quick splice connectors 22-18 AWG (the red ones; about $3 for 7 of them). It will make this part of the install really easy. All you need is a pair of pliers to make it work. And they're great for tight spaces. There is another option and that is to wire it into the panel under the dash. I called Crutchfield tech support and they emailed me the panel layout and told me what pins to splice in which wires to connect from the radio, but it was too cumbersome to get to it. They also gave me the reverse light option in the trunk, which turned out to be a much easier install. In the trunk, connect the red that comes out of the yellow video line to the red on the camera power line to the red you run to the + on the reverse light. Then run the black from the camera power to the - on the reverse light. On the radio side, you connect the red wire that comes out of the yellow video line to a 12 V on the radio. I don't recall which one, but tech support can help you out. Good luck!

This is a car play head unit and is primarily designed to be the entertainment system. If you are looking for a display to play movies for back seat passengers, there are other products that will do that better than this. The video inputs on the unit are composite and the screen resolution isn't really "HD" for movies.

How sturdy is the screen mount? I want to put it into a Jeep Jk and it can be bumpy on the awful city streets!! Worry about it bouncing off it wobbling around! Any Jk owners have one? Also, how well does the front screen detach and attach and is it easy to remove when you go in the store etc.

It is extremely sturdy and very easy to remove with 2 buttons. I have it in a Hummer H2. It swivels around but take a solid push. I am actually very surprised how sturdy it has been. Everything has been excellent except that I had to manually program the steering wheels controls. I have a factory amp too so I had to wire the RCAs to bypass the preamp since flipping that off on the interface didn't work either.

I don't have a jeep anymore but just had one few months ago. To answer your first question, it will definitely have some rattle. If your running stock suspension on the JK, every bump is felt in a jeep. on another note I feel this head unit will be overkill in a jeep since the center dash is pretty small. To answer your second question the display has 2 buttons behind it that release it from the unit. its very easy

Requires a cable connection but I added the $100 wireless carplay adapter popular on Amazon and still had $200 less in it total than I could find a wireless carplay head unit. Seems to work really well and achieved my goal of not having to take the phone out and plug it in every time i get in/out of the truck.

Hey, the usb cable that doesn't support CarPlay or android auto can be used for charging another device OR you can plug in a usb thumb drive for use of music storage or video playback or phots anything you want on there. The CarPlay cord does charge while in use, so no need for a wireless charge.

Charging requires current handling. So I'm assuming that instead of allowing that on all USB lines, which face it someone would try running there entire car off them. They decided having a overheated stereo wasn't a good thing. So they allow one line to charge but all other lines will pass data. Also you can use the non charging lines to pass data and wirelessly charge your phone. I use Quad Lock wireless and data line.
    william  Mar 05, 2021

The CarPlay cable does charge, but there are 2 cables because that is the only one you can do carplay through. The other usb would be for standard charging or a usb stick for media and does not support CarPlay
    timothy  Mar 04, 2021
    A
I can only assume there's 2 usb inputs for the convenience of having a dedicated CarPlay plug in and some other kind of input hardwired at the same time. I installed this stereo a week ago and I can confirm that the CarPlay usb input does charge your phone when it's plugged in so you won't need to wirelessly charge your phone.

Its compatible with any single din install. As long as the monitor has room. Its not compatible with my Jeep Grand Cherokee because of the dash hanging over. That doesn't bother me because I'm gonna chop a notch into my dash. You should use the Crutchfield shop by car manufacturer feature that is super helpful.

I'm certainly no expert, but I have installed many stereos for friends, family and myself over the last 20 years, most recently another Boss model for my mother to give her a backup camera. Anyway, in my experience, when replacing car stereos, you'll also need: A wiring harness specific for your vehicle. (this will allow you to wire a harness that will plug directly into your vehicle plug into the harness that comes with the radio) A dash kit. (which will contain adapters that mount to the radio so you have mounting holes on the new radio that match where your stock radio mounted. And sometimes these include a new bezel (plastic faceplate over the entire radio/dash area) if the the new radio is entirely different than the stock one. And an antenna adapter (for some reason, even though every car I've ever replaced a stereo in has the same exact antenna plug, aftermarket stereos always seem to have something different that requires an adapter.) That's the basics that I can think of off the top of my head. Some extra stuff to keep in mind, some way to safely make your wire connections: solder and shrink wraps, butt connectors, small wire nuts and/or electrical tape. You'll need some basic tools, screw drivers(phillips usually, maybe some torx depending on the brand) and there's also special tools available for safer disassembly of dash parts. If you're super careful you don't need them, some brands come off easy by hand. Hope this helps.
