More details on the NuvoMed aFib and Blood Pressure Monitor
Product Research
Features
Overview: The NuvōMed Blood Pressure Monitor (AFIB-4/0148) accurately measures your blood pressure and heart rate at the touch of a button. The monitor's large 3.14" x 3.54" (WxH) LCD screen has large numerals to make it easy to read. It also has a voice feature that "announces" your results in English, Spanish, or Mandarin. It comes with a cuff designed for arms 9-17 inches in circumference. The BP Monitor is powered by 4 "AAA" batteries (not included), and comes with a handy zippered storage case.
AFIB Screening: Not only does the device monitor your blood pressure and pulse, it also screens for Atrial Fibrillation, or A-Fib. A-Fib is an irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots in the heart and increase the risk of stroke, heart failure, or other complications. You can start a blood pressure reading with A-Fib screening by pressing and holding the On button. A short press of the button starts a normal BP measurement. If Atrial Fibrillation is possibly detected, the A-Fib icon in the display will flash.
Blood Pressure Indicators: Along the left edge of the display is a six segment bar graph. Each of the six segments correspond to the World Health Organization's blood pressure classification:
Blood Pressure Category | Color Indicator | Systolic Number | Diastolic Number |
---|---|---|---|
Optimal | Green | < 120 | < 80 |
Normal | Green | 120-130 | 80-85 |
High Normal | Green | 130-140 | 85-90 |
Grade 1 Hypertension (mild) | Yellow | 140-160 | 90-100 |
Grade 2 Hypertension (moderate) | Orange | 160-180 | 100-110 |
Grade 3 Hypertension (severe) | Red | > 180 | > 110 |
Memory: The NuvōMed Blood Pressure Monitor offers four user profiles, and will store up to 240 readings for each user. Pressing the "M" button in standby mode will enter the Memory Mode and display the average blood pressure for the last 3 measurements. Pressing the > button will show the average data for the last 7 mornings (5:00am to 9:00am). Another press will display the average data for the last 7 evenings (6:00pm to 8:00pm). Trend indicators are displayed for the 7-day morning and evening averages to indicate whether your readings are going up or down. Readings can be deleted whenever you desire.
Power: The Blood Pressure Monitor is powered by four "AAA" alkaline batteries, not included. Fresh batteries have an estimated life of approximately 300 uses. A segmented battery icon on the display lets you keep track of the remaining battery life. Rechargeable batteries should not be used. An optional AC adapter with an output of 6V DC 600mA can be used (plug 2.1x5.5mm diameter/center positive) instead of the batteries.
