The Tala over-the-counter hearing aids have a sleek, modern look. This latest offering from Lucid Hearing features cutting-edge hearing enhancement tech, along with a newly developed speech enhancement system that helps your ears during conversations. The Tala OTC hearing aids are rechargeable and boast a long battery life for all-day use.
No more feeling left out of conversations
One of the newest innovations the Tala hearing aids feature is Lucid's own Precision Directional Listening (PDL™) system. This system uses the Tala's directional microphones and focuses the hearing aids' sound on what's directly in front of you. It blocks out background noise, helping make speech intelligible even in distracting or noisy environments.
App control for a personalized experience
The Lucid Hearing app lets you make quick and easy sound adjustments right from your smartphone. The app features a customizable 4-band EQ and four research-backed sound profiles to choose from, and you can even set how much ambient noise comes through while you're listening to music. The app's LucidShape® feature lets you further customize the sound and frequency curve of your hearing aids. You can adjust each hearing aid individually or you can group them together.
How's your hearing?
If you're curious whether your ears need some assistance but don't want to schedule an appointment with your doctor, Lucid offers access to their personalized hearing assessment on their website. The assessment uses proprietary technology that Lucid says, "...has been widely validated, with results that have been published in multiple scientific peer-reviewed journals." You can take the test using your computer, tablet, or smartphone. After completing the assessment, you'll be emailed your results along with which preset on the hearing aids will suit you best.

Features
Overview: The Tala™ Hearing Aid, powered by Lucid®, features proprietary technology to help you hear clearer. You can use Tala without requiring a doctor's appointment or audiogram. The hearing aids feature Bluetooth streaming, a companion smartphone app, and a hard charging/storage case. The hearing aids and charging case are powered by Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, and come with nine pairs of silicone ear tips for best fit. The Tala Hearing Aids not only help you hear better, but can be used for streaming, as well. OTC (Over-the-Counter) hearing aids should only be used by persons 18 years of age or older. Bluetooth: The Tala hearing aids connect to your Android smartphone via Bluetooth, and require use of the Lucid Hearing app. If you do not already have a Lucid account, you will be prompted to set one up. Precision Directional Listening: Lucid's Precision Directional Listening (PDL™) technology features directional microphones that help you focus on the sound coming from in front of you. This enhances speech intelligibility and clarity, and effectively reduces background noise. The PDL system delivers exceptionally clear conversations while reducing the frustration of struggling to hear in noisy environments.
Fit: The Tala Hearing Aids are designed to be inserted into the ear canal. They are clearly marked "L" for left and "R" for right. The hearing aids come with multiple sizes of vented, non-vented, and double-dome ear tips. The two pairs of double-dome ear tips offer the most noise isolation and a greater seal for those with significant hearing loss. The non-vented ear tips offer a slightly lesser degree of noise isolation, but help to reduce feedback from the hearing aids. The vented, single-dome ear tips allow some ambient noise to pass, and allow you to hear your own voice more naturally.
Wax Guards: Under the silicone ear tip is a wax guard with a dual purpose. The wax guard blocks earwax from entering the driver housing, and it ensures that your hearing aids produce a consistent sound. Tala Hearing Aids come with 10 replacement wax guards with an integrated tool for removing the old wax guard and installing the new one.
IP22 Protection: The hearing aids should never be immersed in water, however, their IP22 rating offers protection against dripping water, such as sweat or rain.
Rechargeable Batteries: The Tala Hearing Aids are powered by Lithium-ion rechargeable button-cell batteries (3.8V, 20mAh, 0.076Wh). The charging case has its own Lithium-ion Polymer rechargeable battery (3.7V, 250mAh, 0.925Wh). The batteries charge in approximately 3 to 4 hours inside the charging case. On a full battery, the expected battery life is 16 hours, based on typical streaming of less than 2 hours per day. The charging case charges via the included USB-C cable. No charging or battery life estimates on the charging case were given.
Lucid Hearing App: The Lucid Hearing app gives you full control of your Tala Hearing Aids. The app features LucidShape, which personalizes your hearing aids in real time, and fine-tunes your hearing. The app lets you adjust or mute the volume of each hearing aid independently or together. You can select from four preset programs based on the listening environment: Mild, Moderate, Bass Boost, and Max. The Audio EQ lets you adjust the sound of the audio streaming in the treble, mid-high, mid-low, and bass bands, and adjust the amount of ambient sound you want to let in. The app also gives you a visual indication of the battery level. The Lucid Hearing app is compatible with Android smartphones and tablets running Android version 10 and up.
