Our caring team can help get your smile back on track...

Tooth infection, impacted wisdom teeth, dental abscesses, gum disease, and cracked or chipped tooth problems are nothing to ignore. When these urgent issues appear, our team at Cypress Family Dental is here to get your dental health under control and your smile back to being healthy and radiant. Our dentists understand that it can be nerve-wracking and scary to be in a dental emergency, but our trained dental team strives to make the entire process smooth and painless.

While urgent dental problems can be painful to deal with, treating them doesn’t have to be. A great dentist takes their patient’s comfort in mind and aims to make their experience in the dental chair as comfortable and painless as it can be, even on short notice. Whether you need a cavity filling, root canal, tooth extraction, or other emergency dental service, we waste no time getting you in the dental chair. After a comprehensive examination, we can schedule a procedure and create a winning plan that will have your smile on the fast track to recovery in no time.

Toothache

A toothache can be a symptom of many dental problems, so we recommend scheduling an appointment so our dentists can identify the root of the problem and its solution.

Wisdom Teeth

Roughly 65% of people will develop wisdom teeth at some point in their life. Wisdom teeth can be very painful and, in most cases, need to be removed.

When Is It A Dental Emergency?

We make your procedure painless, no matter what you need...

Not every broken tooth or bleeding gum is a dental emergency. They might seem worrying or even scary at the moment, and you should always have these issues examined by our professional experts, but they can often wait a few days or even weeks for treatment without any problems. In some cases, like with gingivitis and early tooth decay, these issues can solve themselves with great brushing and flossing habits. However, you shouldn’t wait to contact our team immediately when a dental emergency appears. Leaving urgent problems too long will only lead to further issues. What might have once only needed a simple dental filling may instead need a dental crown or even tooth extraction.

Please visit our dental office at the first signs of a dental emergency such as a toothache that lasts more than a day, a permanent tooth becomes loose, a knocked-out tooth, a tooth abscess or white pimple on the gums, a painful fractured or broken tooth, a chipped tooth with sharp edges, excessive bleeding, or jaw pain or swelling.

Before your procedure, your dentist will apply a local anesthetic called lidocaine to the troubled area of your mouth. Typically, they will use a topical anesthetic before injecting the local anesthetic, which makes every part of the process more comfortable. The anesthetic will block the nerves in that part of your mouth, so it will be entirely numb throughout your procedure. However, if you’re particularly anxious about your emergency appointment, we also offer dental sedation options like nitrous oxide. Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide helps calm the mind as well as the body, so you only feel happy and relaxed during your visit. Since the gas is inhaled, it will wear off shortly after the breathing apparatus is removed without any lingering effects.

Although rarely talked about, gum disease or periodontitis is very common. Periodontitis can be severe and lead to infection and potential tooth loss. It's important to ensure that you take care of your dental hygiene and attend all your dental appointments to avoid deterioration.

Dental Emergency FAQ Cypress, California

Frequently Asked Questions

A chipped tooth is not always a dental emergency. In non-emergency cases we recommend dental bonding, however, in cases of severe breakage, emergency dental care is necessary. These situations are usually incredibly painful and we recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible.

A broken molar is different from a chipped or cracked tooth. In a broken tooth, a sizable part of the tooth is gone. We recommend immediate dental attention.

An untreated cracked tooth can lead to tooth sensitivity, tooth decay, and ultimately tooth loss. You should never leave a broken tooth untreated, even if it doesn’t hurt. Food may get caught in the openings leading to infections or abscesses in your mouth.

Generally, emergency dentist appointments are not more expensive than traditional ones. The price does not differ whether you've pre-planned treatment or not, but your treatment needs may be greater if you wait until you’re in pain. Pain is normally a sign that the damage to the tooth is extensive, so a lot of the time, a toothache does signify that something more is needed, such as a crown or root canal. These procedures are more intensive and, therefore, more expensive than a filling. Rather than delay treatment until it hurts, you should schedule an appointment ASAP.

The cause of gum pain can vary in severity. Minor issues like brushing too hard or poor flossing technique aren’t considered as serious, but gum pain could also be a symptom of gum disease or an infection. If the pain persists, we recommend contacting us at Cypress Family Dental.

There are several ways to identify a gum infection, including: swollen, bleeding or receding gums, bad breath, pus, or even tooth loss are all symptoms. If you are consistently struggling with one or more of these symptoms, we recommend scheduling an appointment.

The Doctors Are Just Stellar
Natalie R.

The sweetest people work here, I'm convinced! The ladies at the front desk always go out of their way to be kind and helpful, the hygienists listen to your concerns and will address them to their best ability, and the doctors are just stellar. I drive over 40 min from where I live to go here because it's rare to find a dental office this fantastic.

This is the best dentist I have been to and I have been to several. The team is professional and welcoming. They are never over-booked and I have never waited more than 5 minutes in the lobby. They are so efficient, no matter what I go in for, I am out in 45 minutes or less. I highly recommend Cypress Family Dental.

The Staff Did A Great Job
David L.

Came to Cypress Family Dental a year ago for my sleep apnea device. No more snoring! The staff did a great job fitting me for this oral appliance. Better yet, they were there to support me when I needed some adjustments later on. The front office staff couldn't have been more accommodating to schedule me in. Easy to recommend.

They Truly Care
Tina E.

The dentist and his staff are wonderful people! In the past, I have had horrible experiences at other dentist offices and then I found this place and I don't think I would ever go anywhere else again. I live about 45 min away from their office but the drive is well worth it. They truly care about their patients. I would recommend this office to anyone.

They're All Top Notch
Julie C.

I'm so happy to have found this awesome dentist with an awesome staff. I am completely confident in the doctor's skill level, and completely comfortable relying on him to work on me without allowing me to experience unnecessary pain. In addition to having a good relationship with the dentist, being able to relate with the office staff is equally important to me. From the hygienist to the dental assistants to the front desk, they're all top notch.
