ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis City firefighter accused of possessing videos of child sexual abuse material was found dead Thursday, investigators said.

Prosecutors charged 50-year-old Jarret Morton on Thursday with two counts of possessing more than 20 photos or videos of child pornography, a class B felony.

According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police probable cause statement, investigators received a tip from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Jan. 30 about a sexually explicit video involving a minor on a Dropbox account.

The videos were connected to Morton, who police said was a St. Louis Fire Department firefighter.

St. Charles City police confirmed on Friday that Morton was found dead Thursday night. It is believed he took his own life.

According to the department, Morton was a 25-year veteran of the St. Louis City Fire Department. The City of St. Louis confirmed he was still a firefighter at the time of his death.
