Built in 1700 The Macallan estate lies in an area of great natural beauty. Macallan uses smallest spirit stills on Speyside, which Contribute to the distinctively rich, fruity 'new make' spirit of the distillery. Interestingly, these stills are so famous they have appeared on the back of a Bank of Scotland banknotes. The Macallan spends more time on sourcing, building and caring for its casks than any other distillery. Spanish sherry seasoned oak casks produce flavours of chocolate, dried fruits and spices; American sherry seasoned oak casks provide sweet citrus, light spice, vanilla and light oak, whilst the American bourbon seasoned oak barrels offer sweet citrus, coconut and oak. The Macallan Lalique 62 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a symphony of rich and aromatic aromas of toffee, raisin apple and chocolate, followed by flavours of rich fruits, ginger and figs. About the brand

The Macallan is easily recognizable as one of the most prolific brands of elite-status single malt Scotch on the market today. The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by school teacher and barley farmer Alexander Reid, soon after the Scottish Excise Act was passed to legalize the distillation of whisky. Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich and aromatic. Initial burst of treacle/toffee opens up to uncover raisin and blood orange and, deeper still, aromas of apple, sprinkled with ginger, cinnamon and chocolate. Layers of dark vanilla embellished by soft burnished oak.

Taste

Sweet, delicate notes of figs, vanilla and mocha chocolate dominate the palate, and are complemented by an underlying body of polished oak

Finish

long and embracing, with beautiful notes of clove, raisins and cigar leafs.
