History Overview

Before starting this firm in January 2006, our founder, Mr. William H. Gorman, Jr. CPA, CGFM, spent the prior twenty years as a partner in two separate public accounting firms. Overall, Mr. Gorman has over thirty years of public accounting experience. In addition, Mr. Gorman is a past national discussion leader for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants on various accounting and auditing topics, and served twenty years on the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ State Committee on Local Government Accounting and Auditing.

It is our philosophy to treat each of our clients as part of our extended family providing each client with technical expertise, integrity, quality, and excellence in service. We perform audits, compilations, reviews, management consulting, forecasts and other attest functions, tax work associated with individuals, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, and trusts.

Our years of experience cover a wide range of business entities and not-for-profit organizations including: construction contractors, school districts, municipalities, real estate brokers, insurance brokers, manufacturing companies, mining and paving contractors, professional health care providers, real estate development companies, landscaping contractors, retail variety stores, grocery stores, department stores, wholesale dealers, condominium associations, libraries, automobile and boat dealerships, golf courses, country clubs, restaurant and bar establishments.

We are proud to be a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Government Accountants, and the Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants. These voluntary, self-regulatory organizations insure quality performance through strict, independent peer reviews, which Mr. Gorman and his past public accounting firms has successfully completed and passed on an on-going basis.

Our profession is constantly changing with new tax laws, new auditing standards, and new accounting principles to learn and digest. To best serve our clients, each professional at Gorman & Associates, P. C. is required to take continuing education courses and technical training on an annual basis. Mr. Robert (Bo) Travis, CPA, CGMA has been with the firm from the beginning and became partner on July 1, 2012 and On May 1, 2018 is now the Managing Partner of the firm. Mr. Travis graduated summa cum laude from East Stroudsburg University with a double major in accounting and economics. He has intensive experience with private industry clients, along with government and not-for-profit entities.
