OJI Fundamentals Clinic

Paul Lau
Kids from all over Ontario (including 5 Ducks) to come together and coached by top tier coaches.

The session started with a pep talk and then into “activation” (aka warm up).  Important for the swimmers to warm up their muscles and ready for the water portion. Dryland exercises ranging from some gentle yoga stretches, quicker squat runs, and team work of plank high fives!

Once the muscles were warmed up they all donned their new caps and got into the pool.  The workout focused on backstroke efficiency, butterfly kick, breast timing and freestyle pace timing.  Lots of learning and chances to ask for help.

Once the swim was complete the swimmers had the chance to hear from Zack Chetrat.  A Canadian Pan-Am medalist and genuinely nice guy.  Over his competitive swim career he’s had lows (did you know he DQ’d in his very first race) to the highs of setting a new Canadian Record when he swam during Pan-Am. Truly an inspiration on how he managed to grow, focused and challenge himself.

Much thank you to Paul for making this clinic possible for the swimmers fortunate to attend.  Thank you Paul, Roxana and Albert for continuing to support all our swimmers in their swim journeys.
