Are you suffering from:

  • reduced hearing?

  • feeling full or uncomfortable in your ears?

  • smelly ear wax?

  • ringing or buzzing that won’t go away?

You may have a build up of ear wax that needs to be removed.

What happens at my appointment?

After welcoming you to the clinic, the clinician will find out more about you and the problems you are experiencing.

Using a small magnifying tool and light, the clinician will then look inside your ears to check they are healthy and see if there is wax present.

If there is wax to remove, they will use a small suction tool to suck the wax out of your ear canal. This technique is called microsuction. It should not be painful.

Each appointment lasts approximately 30-40 minutes for two ears.

After the appointment you should keep water out of your ears for 24 hours, avoiding swimming or washing your hair.

What is microsuction?

Rather than using the traditional method of Ear Syringing or Irrigation, Microsuction is a new, more advanced way to remove ear wax.

It is suitable for even those with small ear canals, and people who suffer from ear infections.

Since it does not involve putting water into your ears to flush them out, it reduces your risk of infection or damage.

How to prepare for your appointment

Before your appointment, you should help to soften the wax by putting ear drops or olive oil into your ears.

Simply tilt your head or lie on one side and drip the oil or drops into your ear. Stay there for 5 minutes to help the oil soak into the wax.

Do the same on the other side. Repeat this for at least 3 days before your appointment.

We recommend booking at least 3-4 days in advance to secure your space and give you enough time to apply the oil drops before you visit the clinic.

If you visit the clinic and have not ‘oiled’ your ears, the clinician may not be able to remove hard wax deposits, and you may be sent away without your treatment.
