Nestled on 14 acres adjacent to the Sam Houston National Forest, Hangar 48 is not just another airplane hangar!  It is located northeast of Willis, Texas among sprawling ranches and beautiful native Texas forest and it is the LAST place you would expect to see a hangar.

Located on Blackland Road west of 45, you’ll know you’ve left the hustle and bustle behind

as you feel the calmness and serenity of nature.  Along the final drive you’re likely to see

herds of beautiful longhorns, horses, cows, a couple of zonkeys (half zebra and half donkey)

and a water buffalo named “Wilson”.

 

As you approach Hangar 48, Blackland narrows to one lane  and many visitors have turned around

suspecting that they must’ve passed it.  Inside the gate and surrounded by woods is a

6400 sq/ft airplane hangar and a 750 ft grass runway open to aviation friends and visitors

that are capable of landing in such a short distance.

 

Hangar 48 has previously hosted weddings, private parties and special events but has

turned towards a new focus as a music venue.  But not just any music venue,

Hangar 48 with its warm and inviting atmosphere is the kind of place that you come

to for the music, but you stay for the friends. You’ll quickly understand when you meet the

hosts, Eddie and Sherri Sanches, as you are welcomed to their private sanctuary.

A few outdoor games are provided such as baggo, bocce ball, and a fun frisbee game we call “beer pole”, for lack of a better name. But consider yourself warned, we may have to ask you to pause your game on the runway to make room for an incoming flying friend.  

​

So pack a cooler with your favorite snacks and beverages, toss in your lawn chairs or blanket and bring your friends and family out to hear some of the best local talent Texas has to offer!!  We will post our schedule and shout out to you “regulars” when our music events hit the calendar.
