Julie Carter, Manager
Julie Carter oversees the daycare and boarding services at Hidden Acres.
Julie has been a professional dog trainer for over 20 years. She is the owner of West Coast Canine Academy where she teaches herding, obedience and works with reactive dogs. Julie studied under the top handlers in Canada and the US including Susan Garrett and Kirsten Lloyd – both of whom have been on the Canadian National Team and competed at the World Agility Championships.
Dorothy Jones, Senior Dog Handler
Dorothy has been working with Julie for over 15 years. She works in the fields with the daycare and boarding dogs. Dorothy’s approach with dogs is quiet and kind.
Dorothy is a member of the Agility Association of Canada and the Canadian Stock Dog Association.
Valerie Berben, Dog Handler
Valerie Berben is a founding member of the Vancouver Island Search and Disaster Dogs Association Canada (VISDDAC), one of only two organizations in Canada who are members of the International Search and Rescue Dog Organization. Val and her K9 partner have been doing search and rescue for over 13 years, nationally and abroad. She also teaches beginner obedience classes at the Island Pacific Labrador Retriever Club.
