Daycare Services

Hidden Acres is located in North Saanich on a 52-acre farm. Our daycare facility is organized in two large one-acre play fields on grass – one for large dogs and the other for medium and small dogs. Our fields have 9-feet fencing and our outdoor, covered crates are 6-feet high with a water bowl for rest time and lunch breaks.

Each field has one dog handler on duty at all times, dogs are never left unattended during the full 8-hour day. We do not close for lunch, and there are 3 staff members on-duty at all times. Our staff is very quiet and calm, we do not allow loud voices. We believe calm handlers make for calm dogs. It’s rare to ever hear a dog bark at our farm.

Our handlers spend much of their day walking with the dogs in the field, working on recall and good manners with people and other dogs.

Drop-off and pick-up

Our drop-off time is between 7:30 and 8:30 am  and pick-up is no later than 4:30 pm.

Dogs arrive on leash, walk down to the fields where they are placed into a dog kennel of their own for the day. Once all the dogs have arrived, handlers will turn the dogs out in groups of 10  or more and start the play time.

Special care is taken for the puppies and we have a separate grassed play area for the little ones.

What to bring

Dogs should have a shopping bag with their name on it and include whatever food is needed during the day. We also ask that you include a rain coat and a towel. There is a clip on the kennel door where your bag will stay until the time you pick up your dog.

Our facility has a hot shower for the dogs and should they get dirty, we will be wash your dog prior to leaving.

All dogs need to have a collar. Harnesses will be removed on drop-off as they tend to rub under the elbows in the warmer weather. It will be put back on for pick-up.

Vaccines

The kennel cough vaccine is mandatory and we ask that you apply flea treatment, as needed.

Special Cases

We are experienced with unneutered dogs and intact females. Females can come during their heat but we ask that you advise upon arrival if your dog has come into heat.

We accept puppies from 16 weeks.
