Rene graduated with a Degree in Culinary Arts in 1994 and began working at Barton Creek Country Club as a Chef. She has been invited to work in many fine restaurants as Chef and Sous Chef, including Bitter End Bistro and Brewery in Austin's Warehouse District, Driskill Hotel, and Granite Café. She has extensive experience and is well-known across Central Texas for her talents.

· 2001 Opened The Wild Horse Grille as Chef
· 2003 Assisted opening Backstage Steakhouse as Sous Chef to Executive Chef Raymond Tatum. Raymond is a prominent Chef from Jeffery's fine dining in Austin.
Renee took a brief break from the restaurant world to have her son, Halsey, who is now in High School and a foot taller than Renee. Time flies! While being a mom of a young child, Renee opened His and Herb's Gourmet to Go and won the Best Caterer award in 2008. She later opened her food truck called "The Baconette" and won the Texas Lone Star BBQ's Grilled Cheese category in 2017.
Renee opened CateRology in February of 2020. Since opening, she has already received awards as the "Best Caterer" from The Highlander Newspaper. In addition, she was awarded the "Gold Award" in Burnet and the "Silver Award" in Marble Falls.
Rene's Inspiration to become a Chef.
"My grandfather, Wallace Riddell, became Sheriff in 1939 in Burnet and served 40 years, making him the longest-serving Sherriff in Texas. My grandmother served alongside him as the matron of the jail. Interestingly, the jail was not only the jail but also their home. She cooked and cleaned and took care of her family and the prisoners every day of their life there. Daily she would cook for no less than 30 people breakfast, lunch and dinner because there were always extra mouths to feed. People knew they could drop by and always have a hot meal and a pleasant visit. She taught my dad to cook, and in turn, he began teaching me before I could even see over the countertop."
As for CaterRology, I decided to continue the tradition and build my catering kitchen in my family's building. My sister Randi Reifle's flower shop is located here, and my mother's real estate office.
