OUTDOOR CLASSROOM
Experience a fun, high energy two or three day (overnight) outdoor education experience with your classroom in the Rocky Mountain foothills (near Estes Park). Students will learn about mountain ecology while exploring trails and creeks. Students might go on a night hike, explore the passage to the Hidden Room, learn about stream and pond ecology, and investigate sub-alpine flora and fauna.  Community building is also a vital part of this full and fun experience! We work with classrooms and teachers accompanied by parent chaperones. College interns assist with program activities while supporting their training in education and learning how to positively engage students.  One day programs can also be designed

 

INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM DESIGN
We have decades of experience which means we can design the perfect outdoor education experience based on Colorado Academic Standards. Our adventure background and attention to managing wilderness trips with an informal science curriculum focus ensures that we will provide your classroom with an amazing experience that will absolutely be a highlight of your students’ elementary years.

DETAILS FOR CLASSROOM TEACHERS
Highlands Presbyterian Camp and Retreat Center is an American Camping Association Accredited facility and can accommodate up to 4 classrooms at one time. Students and adult chaperones sleep in comfortable heated cabins with indoor plumbing. Bunkbeds are provided in separate cabins for girls and boys. Meals are delicious, bountiful and served buffet-style in our beautiful retreat center with an awe-inspiring view of Mount Meeker.

Parents are a great way to transport students and save money.
Buses can easily access our locations.

WHAT GRADE LEVELS DO YOU SERVE?
We find that 5th – 6th grade benefit most from the Outdoor Classroom.
Class trips are perfect for 7th-10th grade.
We can custom design a program for your high school students based on your needs.
