The good part was the price. Unfortunately, I think the good part may have led to the bad part. The sales person, I think, under-bid the job, and the workers were left to try to make a profit on a very slim available margin. The bad part is that the finished job looked great in the wide angle view, but when you looked at details you noticed a lot of cut corners and sloppiness. We had to put a lot of labor and significant expense fixing things that just should not have had to be fixed. The most egregious example was that on our deck, at least half of the end-to-end joints were missing the scab boards on the joists. The worker cut plenty of scabs; I found them on the ground under the deck when I pulled the decking to fix the problem. So I have a lot of decking with partially split ends from where screws were driven into them too close to the ends. A couple were so bad I had to replace them. They also simply left out a lot of screws, and in even more places used screws that were too short, so they barely touched the underlying joists. I could seriously go on for quite a while, but I wouldn't want to subject everyone to a wall of text.
