We offer custom book gift baskets that include unique lagniappes such as related ephemera and sideline items.

What Makes Your Business Unique/Sets You Apart?: We carry the works of a great variety of Local Authors, Local Artists, and Local Artisans in our adjacent Undine’s Cottage that’s also available gratis for community meetings and local clubs. We have cozy corners where Gentle Readers may while away an afternoon reading or dreaming. Seasonally, we offer reading nooks in The Secret Garden, and a garden fire pit area for gatherings.

Why Did You Join The Chamber?: We strongly believe in the work of the Chamber to support the community by supporting local businesses and we want to be part of this great community of Kent County.

What Do You Like About The Kent County Community?: We love the people here - as beautiful as Kent County and the small towns and River & Bay are, it is the friendliness, generosity, and kindness of the people here who make it such a special community.

What Do You Like About Doing Business In And Around Kent County?: The local and county governments are helpful and care about citizens and small businesses, and operate with a minimum of “red tape.” Our neighboring businesses are mutually supportive and proactive in lending a helping hand and sharing advice and best practices. Everyone who walks in the door of our bookstore is a good person. Kent County is comprised of neighbors who are knowledgeable and care about lifelong learning. It also attracts visitors who are well-read and have many interests. It’s a great mix of people to have as customers!

Is There Anything Else You Want Members To Know About Your Business?: We love helping our readers find the books they want - we are happy to order titles in without obligation to buy or rush to come see; such special orders may be purchased at our cost. When COVID19 permits, we’ll offer complimentary refreshments and we’ll host author events, poetry gatherings, children’s reading circles, tutoring times, and budding writers support get-togethers. All Selkie bookstore events are free and open to the public. We are a collection point for Books for Prisoners; we have Free Book & Magazine baskets; a free lending library of audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs.
