PACIFICA, Calif. (KRON) — One person has died after a police shooting in Pacifica on Wednesday, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Around 7:51 a.m., Pacifica Police Department officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Francisco Boulevard. A man called 911 to report that his mother shot him inside their apartment, according to Pacifica PD.

The mother was seen driving away from the apartment as officers arrived. Police then encountered her, and she pointed a firearm at officers, according to authorities. Police said they shot the woman, who later died at the scene.

The son suffered a gunshot wound and is in stable condition at the hospital, Pacifica PD said. As of Wednesday afternoon, there have been no reports of any officers being injured.

Francisco Boulevard between Clarendon Road and Lakeside Avenue was closed due to police activity.

The DA’s office said it is investigating the shooting, per county law enforcement protocol. Pacifica PD, the South San Francisco Police Department, and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office were at the scene.
