Citygarden spot getting new occupant in local favorite burger restaurant

The "community favorite" will move into the Terrace View space in the sculpture garden.

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis favorite burger spot is moving into one of the premier food spots in the entire city.

The Gateway Foundation, which maintains the Citygarden Sculpture Park near Kiener Plaza, announced Thursday that Burger 809 would soon be moving into the long-unoccupied restaurant space on the park's grounds.

The restaurant will take over the Terrace View spot at the park as early as April, according to a news release from the foundation.

“We have been on a mission to find our dream venue and could not be more elated to have landed in the stunning Terrace View in Citygarden,” Burger 809 Owner Tasha Smith said in the announcement. “We are fine-tuning an inspired menu that will once again make Citygarden a destination for dining for all kinds of visitors, including our many beloved customers who have long awaited this announcement.”

The restaurant expects to be open for brunch, lunch and dinner and will announce specific hours closer to its grand opening, the release said.

“Gateway Foundation is staunchly invested in improving the quality of life for every St. Louisan through both the establishment and care of well-designed spaces," Gateway Foundation Executive Director Heather Sweeney said. "Tasha’s business acumen and her undeniable culinary talent made her a clear choice for the Foundation.”
